Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said he is ready to travel to the G20 summit in Miami later this year to meet Russian President Vladimir Putin face-to-face.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe have to meet, to speak\u00a0and make decisions,\u201d Zelensky told German news outlet Deutsche Welle<\/a> in an interview Friday. <\/p>\n Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said he is prepared to meet Putin in Miami at the G20 in December. Zuma \/ SplashNews.com<\/p>\n The Ukrainian leader thinks the Kremlin is\u00a0paying a \u201cbig price\u201d for small gains on the battlefield<\/a>, with Russia estimated to be\u00a0losing<\/a> more than 30,000 soldiers\u00a0a month.<\/p>\n \u201cSo that\u2019s why we think that we have now good position for negotiations,\u201d Zelensky said.<\/p>\n The Kremlin has not yet confirm whether Putin will attend the summit in Florida in December. Mikhail Metzel\/Pool Sputnik Kremlin via AP<\/p>\n The two leaders have not met in person since Russia invaded Ukraine in February 2022, and the meeting would offer a rare opening for direct talks, as efforts to restart negotiations have stalled this year.<\/p>\n But the Kremlin all but shut that down Saturday. <\/p>\n Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said \u201cwe don\u2019t know yet whether we\u2019ll be going to Miami,\u201d while Kremlin foreign policy aide Yury Ushakov said Putin\u2019s attendance \u201chas not even been discussed\u201d in Moscow \u2014 both stressing Russia\u2019s longstanding line that if Zelensky wants to meet Putin, he should come to Moscow instead.<\/p>\n That\u2019s something Zelensky has repeatedly said he wouldn\u2019t do.<\/p>\n The G20 summit \u2014 which Putin has not personally attended since 2019 \u2014 is taking place in Miami on Dec. 14 and 15.<\/p>\n The 2026 G20 Miami Summit is on Dec. 14-15 in Miami.
