Orlando\u2019s been struck by the loss of several long-loved eateries and drinking spaces across town, despite our hope for the new restaurants coming our way. It\u2019s been a tumultuous season for many businesses \u2014 even those with Michelin approval \u2014 most of whom have attributed their sudden closures to financial downturn and lack of foot traffic.<\/p>\n

Here are 15 Orlando restaurants and bars that closed this summer. <\/p>\n

1420 Alden Road, Orlando

Orlando bar The Attic\u00a0announced in May<\/a>\u00a0it would close its doors for good after 16 years in the space, adding to a long string of nightlife venue closures downtown in recent months.\u00a0The decision to close came after rising costs in order to operate the club with a \u201clack of meaningful support or solutions from local leadership and city officials,\u201d The Attic team wrote in a social media announcement on May 26. This downtown Orlando brewhouse had long provided cold drinks, hot eats and a comfortable space to watch local and larger sports games. The taproom shut its doors in May, a closure which some local news outlets speculate was tied to\u00a0larger financial troubles<\/a> that are plaguing many of the nightlife (and otherwise) businesses downtown as the city aims to deemphasize alcohol sales and prioritize a family-friendly atmosphere. The restaurant, located in an unassuming strip mall, opened back in 2019 under the culinary oversight of Kevin and Maria Ruiz. Popular late-night eats destination Los Tres Golpes closed suddenly in downtown Orlando in August. The spot specialized in Dominican flavor fused with New York\u2013style eats. Customers frequented the eatery late into the night (it didn\u2019t close until 4 a.m. on weekends) to grab dishes like chopped cheese, chimichurri beef smash tacos, Dominican pizzas and more nighttime-approved munchies.

Chef Mario Pagan burst onto the scene in 2023 with Chayote, his first restaurant outside Puerto Rico and one celebrating the heritage and culinary footprint of Latin cuisine. It was an Orlando Weekly\u00a0Top Table of 2023<\/a>, for its \u201cstylistic fusion\u201d and \u201ccohesive, striking design.\u201d The restaurant closed in May.
