{"id":399255,"date":"2026-09-14T07:44:11","date_gmt":"2026-09-14T07:44:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/399255\/"},"modified":"2026-09-14T07:44:11","modified_gmt":"2026-09-14T07:44:11","slug":"amazon-suspends-use-of-21-air-cargo-carrier-whose-plane-careened-off-miami-runway-3","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/399255\/","title":{"rendered":"Amazon Suspends Use of 21 Air, Cargo Carrier Whose Plane Careened off Miami Runway"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>MIAMI (AP) \u2014 <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/amazon-plane-miami-runwway-0216e31a586885652360d34d0455abcd\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Amazon<\/a> said Sunday that it has suspended its partnership with 21 Air after one of the cargo carrier&#8217;s planes loaded with Amazon packages <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/amazon-plane-crash-miami-what-to-know-a7b95b9c94c60fddeecaf25d59d05a37\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">careened off a Miami runway<\/a> last week and killed five people.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAfter the tragic incident last weekend, we\u2019ve spent time supporting the investigation and reviewing some of the surrounding circumstances, and we\u2019ve decided to pause our operations with 21 Air, the operator of Flight 7598,\u201d Amazon spokesperson Kelly Nantel said a statement. \u201cWe\u2019ll continue working to support the investigation and everyone affected.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.usnews.com\/news\/best-states\/north-carolina\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">North Carolina<\/a>-based 21 had flown packages for Amazon since 2024. The company didn&#8217;t immediately respond Sunday to a request for comment about Amazon&#8217;s decision. <\/p>\n<p>The jet\u2019s ownership history, weather conditions at the airport, maintenance records and operations by 21 Air were expected to be reviewed by investigators with the National Transportation Safety Board. <\/p>\n<p>Flight information released by the NTSB on Sept. 9 revealed one of the pilots warned his counterpart they were going too fast as they approached for landing and after touchdown. <\/p>\n<p>The cockpit audio recordings also captured a series of automated warnings from the plane about the speed of descent and the approaching terrain. The full transcript of the cockpit conversation won\u2019t be released until later in the investigation.<\/p>\n<p>The 32-year-old Boeing was originally built to carry passengers and flew for several airlines in foreign countries for more than two decades before being converted to a cargo plane in 2015, according to flight-tracking site Flightradar24.<\/p>\n<p>Copyright 2026 The\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.ap.org\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Associated Press<\/a>.
