{"id":399431,"date":"2026-09-14T13:12:10","date_gmt":"2026-09-14T13:12:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/399431\/"},"modified":"2026-09-14T13:12:10","modified_gmt":"2026-09-14T13:12:10","slug":"amazon-pauses-operations-with-21-air-following-deadly-miami-airport-crash","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/399431\/","title":{"rendered":"Amazon pauses operations with 21 Air following deadly Miami airport crash"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>MIAMI (TNND)  \u2014 Amazon said Sunday it has paused operations with 21 Air after a cargo jet operated by the carrier careened off a runway at Miami International Airport, <a href=\"https:\/\/thenationaldesk.com\/news\/americas-news-now\/prime-air-cargo-plane-overruns-runway-catches-fire-at-miami-international-airport-mia-prime-air-prime-air-flight-7598-cargo-plane-plane-crash-runway-overrun-miami-airport-crash-miami-plane-crash-cargo-plane-fire-aircraft-fire-airplane-accident#\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">killing five members of a plane-cleaning crew.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Information released from the <a href=\"https:\/\/thenationaldesk.com\/news\/americas-news-now\/black-box-cockpit-voice-recorder-flight-data-reveals-amazon-cargo-jet-was-too-fast-before-deadly-miami-airport-crash-clean-crew-killed-sink-rate-too-low-terrain-national-transportation-safety-board-ntsb-investigation#\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">cockpit voice recorder<\/a> showed one pilot warned the aircraft was moving too fast as the crew prepared to land Sept. 6.<\/p>\n<p>The recorder also captured automated Ground Proximity Warning System alerts. The computerized voice twice warned of a \u201csink rate\u201d before issuing five \u201ctoo low terrain\u201d alerts as the aircraft approached the runway.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAfter the tragic incident last weekend, we\u2019ve spent time supporting the investigation and reviewing some of the surrounding circumstances, and we\u2019ve decided to pause our operations with 21 Air, the operator of Flight 7598,\u201d Amazon spokesperson Kelly Nantel said in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aboutamazon.com\/news\/company-news\/amazon-21-air-miami-updates?utm_source=chatgpt.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">statement<\/a>. \u201cWe\u2019ll continue working to support the investigation and everyone affected.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Boeing 767 was carrying about 32,000 pounds of cargo, mostly contact lenses, according to NTSB Chairwoman Jennifer Homendy.<\/p>\n<p>The approximately 32-year-old jet was originally manufactured as a passenger aircraft, according to flight-tracking service Flightradar24.
