TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – Michael Alford is no longer serving as Florida State University\u2019s vice president and director of intercollegiate athletics, according to the university.<\/p>\n
FSU announced the change in athletics leadership in a statement Monday.<\/p>\n
Board of Trustees Chairman Peter Collins said changes like this are \u201cnever easy, but sometimes necessary.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cWe have made significant investments and structural changes in our athleticsprogram and Seminole Boosters over the past few years, but more are needed.\u202fThis stepbeginsthe next phase of restructuring that the University must commit to in order to compete in this era of college sports.\u202f The President and the Board are in lockstep on the mission and what the results must be.\u201d<\/p>\n
The university statement went on to reveal that FSU President Richard McCullough has appointed Bruce Warwick to serve in the interim director of athletics role \u201cwhile a national search for a permanent successor is conducted.\u201d<\/p>\n
Warwick currently serves as senior associate athletics director, per the university. <\/p>\n
Alford began his career in the Director of Athletics role back in 2021<\/a>. Previously, he served as president and CEO of Seminole Boosters since 2020, WCTV previously reported.<\/p>\n This is a breaking news update.
