{"id":399691,"date":"2026-09-14T18:56:01","date_gmt":"2026-09-14T18:56:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/399691\/"},"modified":"2026-09-14T18:56:01","modified_gmt":"2026-09-14T18:56:01","slug":"woman-pumping-gas-at-florida-gas-station-set-on-fire-by-stranger-police-say","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/399691\/","title":{"rendered":"Woman pumping gas at Florida gas station set on fire by stranger, police say"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A woman pumping gas at a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/miami\/tag\/florida\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-invalid-url-rewritten-http=\"\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Florida<\/a> gas station was seriously injured after she was set on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/miami\/tag\/fire\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-invalid-url-rewritten-http=\"\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">fire<\/a> by a stranger, according to police.<\/p>\n<p>According to a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/StPetePD\/posts\/pfbid0MaxU5Jc7ZvXERGA6mbKsNAukCYjaSaz53hyxDA3WHpaCuLxjnidi51UtbEDxFBXwl\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Facebook post<\/a> by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/miami\/tag\/st-petersburg\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-invalid-url-rewritten-http=\"\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">St. Petersburg<\/a> Police Department, officers were called to a Mobil gas station located at 101 40th Avenue North around 8 p.m. on Sept. 10, after getting reports of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/miami\/tag\/arson\" target=\"_blank\" data-invalid-url-rewritten-http=\"\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">arson<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Police said Eleanor Crawford, 41, walked up to the victim, who was identified as a 41-year-old woman, while she was pumping gas into her Volvo SUV.<\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s when police said she used a lighter to deliberately ignite the gasoline.<\/p>\n<p>      <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/805784507-2160549974496235-4034659280838376837-n.jpg#.jpeg\" alt=\"805784507-2160549974496235-4034659280838376837-n.jpg \" height=\"775\" width=\"620\"  loading=\"lazy\"\/><\/p>\n<p>                  Eleanor Crawford<\/p>\n<p>                St. Petersburg Police Department\/Facebook<\/p>\n<p>The victim&#8217;s vehicle was immediately engulfed in flames, and police said the woman who was pumping gas was seriously injured.<\/p>\n<p>She suffered second-degree burns and was rushed to a local hospital.<\/p>\n<p>Police said they were able to quickly arrest Crawford, who was located a few blocks away from where the incident took place.<\/p>\n<p>The suspect and victim didn&#8217;t know one another, and the motive remains unclear.
