(WCTV) &#8211; A former Ohio Salvation Army Major was arrested in Tallahassee on over 40 counts of rape and attempted rape, according to court documents. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">James Gingrich was arrested on Sept. 9 after US Marshals spotted his vehicle in Tallahassee. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">According to a press release from the Clark County Prosecutor\u2019s Office in Ohio, Gingrich was indicted on 44 felony counts in August. <\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"figure-img img-fluid mx-auto d-block\" fetchpriority=\"low\" loading=\"lazy\" alt=\"Former Ohio Salvation Army Major arrested in Tallahassee, facing more than 40 counts of rape\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/MK4MHRDGJJADLCNTY2CDC5ASTM.png\" width=\"980\" height=\"551\" \/>Former Ohio Salvation Army Major arrested in Tallahassee, facing more than 40 counts of rape(Leon County Jail)<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">That indictment alleges that Gingrich, who was a Major in the Salvation Army, sexually assaulted several minors from 1996 to 2009. Gingrich was also the Taekwondo instructor for the Springfield Salvation Army post during that time period, according to the press release. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Gingrich allegedly used his position with the Salvation Army to commit the assaults. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">According to the Clark County Prosecutor\u2019s Office, Gingrich was convicted of Gross Sexual Assault in Maine.
