On Monday, the airport still posted dozens of flight delays, and one runway still remained closed while another one was restricted.

As of 7 p.m. Monday, more than 180 flights were delayed, according to tracker FlightAware.

All flights were halted at Miami International Airport on Sunday, Sept. 6, after an Amazon cargo plane overshot the runway and crashed, hitting several vehicles and catching on fire. Five people were killed, and several injured, including the two pilots aboard.

The following day, the National Transportation Safety Board arrived. It has been investigating the crash of the Amazon Prime Air Boeing 767-300, operated by 21 Air. The aircraft remains on part of the runway.

Over the weekend, Amazon announced it would “pause our operations” with 21 Air, the operator of the fatal Flight 7598.

“After the tragic incident last weekend, we’ve spent time supporting the investigation and reviewing some of the surrounding circumstances,” Kelly Nantel, an Amazon spokesperson, said in a Sept. 13 statement. That led to the decision to suspend work with 21 Air.

The Herald previously reported that employees and former employees had criticized 21 Air for its unsafe working conditions.

“We’ll continue working to support the investigation and everyone affected,” Nantel said.

At MIA on Monday, two of MIA’s four runways, 8L and 9, remain fully open. The other two had been closed immediately following the crash. But since Sept. 8, one of those runways has partially opened.

“The plane is still at the crash site, just beyond the west end of runway 12/30,” Chin said.

There’s no current timeline for reopening that runway.

MIA also had to deal with bad weather on Sunday. Thunderstorms across Florida and the East Coast, combined with the runway constraints, led to 377 delayed flights and 24 canceled ones, Chin said.

Travelers are encouraged to check on flight status with their airlines.

MIA’s other flight tracker tool lets you track by flight or route. If you know the carrier, the date and the flight number, this tool might be easier to use since it will only pull the information for your flight.

Additionally, MIA has several ways to check flights, including a list of airlines, their door number, departure concourse, check-in counter location and baggage-claim area. The airport also has a mobile app.

This story was originally published September 14, 2026 at 1:13 PM.

                Vinod Sreeharsha

                    Miami Herald

Vinod Sreeharsha covers tourism trends in South Florida for the Miami Herald.

Amazon has suspended ties with a cargo airline operating the plane that crashed at Miami International Airport a…

[15
225,227,226
post-399923","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-hialeah","tag-hialeah","tag-hialeah-headlines","tag-hialeah-news
["GET
