LEHIGH ACRES, Fla. (WINK) \u2014 A woman is dead after a heavy vehicle went into the water at a mine in Lee County.<\/p>\n
The Lee County Sheriff’s Office confirmed her body has been recovered. The investigation is still ongoing.<\/p>\n
The incident took place along State Road 82 at Bell Mine.<\/p>\n
WINK News drone footage from earlier showed the scale of the recovery operation at Bell Mine. Multiple heavy-duty recovery trucks lined up along the edge of a large retention pond as crews worked along the water.<\/p>\n
The vehicle was submerged with only the tires visible above the surface. Sheriff’s Office vehicles were also on scene as crews worked to pull the vehicle out of the water.<\/p>\n
WINK News spoke with a cousin of the woman who died. The family said they are not ready to speak publicly about the loss at this time.<\/p>\n
