Our housing, healthcare, insurance and education will be affected by who we elect in the November midterm elections.<\/p>\n
Our local control of growth management will be on the ballot. Our ability to rein in state overreach with proper checks and balances will be on the ballot. Solutions to these challenges require all of us to put our tested, trusted principles ahead of our party affiliations in November.<\/p>\n
That is why we are excited to co-chair a new Republicans for Jolly initiative to elect David Jolly as Florida\u2019s next governor.<\/p>\n

David\u2019s positions on key policy issues facing all Floridians are grounded in his belief that pragmatic principles should always take precedence over party platforms. David is a man of character, competency and ethical values. His policy positions pass a common-sense test and are achievable even in a divided state government.<\/p>\n
As most voters know, before David became a Democrat, he spent much of his life as a principled Republican. He represented Florida in Congress as a Republican.<\/p>\n
Many of the traditional principles that shaped his view of government then shape his solutions for government today.<\/p>\n
He supports local control, private sector leadership, and individual freedom from government interference in our private lives. He knows that the government closest to the people works best, and that the private sector should lead wherever it can. When markets or institutions fail to meet a challenge, however, government should step up to help find solutions that work for everyone.<\/p>\n
He also understands that public officials must be accountable to the people they serve and that government must be transparent.<\/p>\n
David describes himself as being in a post-ideological place, given the dramatic changes occurring in our country. Florida is no exception. His argument is straightforward: These problems require workable solutions on a scale that matches our challenges.<\/p>\n
David understands the challenges that face a growing Florida. He understands the necessity to manage this growth, protect our environment, and support measures to lower the cost of living for everyone.<\/p>\n
That is why he has proposed a revitalized state catastrophic insurance fund to invest in lowering the cost and economic impact of recurring Florida hurricanes. By removing natural disaster risk from private insurance markets, insurance rates can be reduced dramatically for homeowners.<\/p>\n

This affordability, coupled with proper growth management, is critical for the future success of all Florida communities. That is why he has proposed policies to expand the supply of housing for first-time home buyers and renters.<\/p>\n
The goal is to keep up with our growing demand in ways that are affordable to working families and individuals, while being respectful of the communities and residents who already call Florida home.<\/p>\n
David also understands that one of the most sustainable ways to make our state more affordable is to increase wages and options for our residents. He understands the need to invest locally and encourage private sector investments to grow a competitive, enduring economy.<\/p>\n
We consider ourselves to be principled Republicans who hold traditional conservative values. In this election, we believe that tested and trusted principles, rooted in local control, affordability and basic common sense, are on the ballot in Florida.<\/p>\n
We know that we are at a historic inflection point in Florida elections, and we care more about the future of Florida than party labels. That\u2019s why it is OK for Republicans and independents to vote for and enthusiastically support David Jolly and Gwen Graham for your next Florida governor and lieutenant governor.<\/p>\n
