{"id":401111,"date":"2026-09-16T03:18:07","date_gmt":"2026-09-16T03:18:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/401111\/"},"modified":"2026-09-16T03:18:07","modified_gmt":"2026-09-16T03:18:07","slug":"surveillance-video-shows-chilling-attack-by-man-on-er-nurse-staff-at-jackson-memorial-hospital-wsvn-7news-miami-news-weather-sports","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/401111\/","title":{"rendered":"Surveillance video shows chilling attack by man on ER nurse, staff at Jackson Memorial Hospital &#8211; WSVN 7News | Miami News, Weather, Sports"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">MIAMI (WSVN) &#8211; Months after a <a href=\"https:\/\/wsvn.com\/news\/local\/miami-dade\/jackson-memorial-hospital-nurse-sues-hospital-county-for-5-million-after-brutal-attack-by-patient\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">nurse who was injured<\/a> by a patient while on the job announced her lawsuit against her employer, 7News has obtained surveillance video of the chilling attack.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Two camera angles captured emergency room nurse Yanira Eguileor and <a href=\"https:\/\/wsvn.com\/news\/local\/miami-dade\/audio-reveals-new-details-from-second-victim-in-attack-at-jackson-memorial-hospital\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">her colleagues<\/a> under attack by the raging patient at Jackson Memorial Hospital on May 30.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cIt was a total of three bashes to the head, and he threw me to the floor. I covered my face with my hands,\u201d said Eguileor.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Eguileor said the man, identified as Wenyou Rubin, put his sights on her when she defended a colleague who had been hit.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI heard a loud scream from one of the staff members, a female. I turned around, and this man is running after her, toward the nurse\u2019s station. That\u2019s when I turned around, and I went towards them, and he was about to strike her, and I said, \u2018No! Don\u2019t hit her.\u2019 He turned around, and he punched me,\u201d she recalled.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">7News spoke to the injured nurse weeks after the brutal beating. During our interview, she revealed she decided to file a lawsuit against her employer, Jackson Memorial Hospital.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">She says her colleagues rushed to her aid upon seeing her being attacked and were able to restrain the angry patient on the ground.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThe staff took me into a room and put me as a patient,\u201d said Eguileor about the aftermath.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Video shows her being treated by her coworkers, who decided to begin conducting multiple tests and scans of her injuries.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Speaking to 7News in the aftermath, Michael Pizzi, the victim\u2019s attorney, said the attack could\u2019ve ended much worse.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cYou\u2019ve got nurses who could\u2019ve been killed. So horrific, it\u2019s hard to watch,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Pizzi said he had to file a second lawsuit to get Jackson Health System to turn over the surveillance footage of the attack. His initial civil lawsuit cites a lack of workplace security.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cPolice never showed up, and security showed up after it was over and the damage was done,\u201d said Pizzi.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In a statement, Jackson Memorial Hospital said it has:<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cFour dedicated Jackson public safety specialists assigned to the Jackson Memorial Emergency Room 24 hours a day, seven days a week\u201d in addition to \u201ctwo off-duty Miami-Dade Sheriff\u2019s Office deputies on campus at all times.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Video shows hospital security arriving after staff had already restrained Rubin.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cIt\u2019s disgraceful,\u201d said Pizzi.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Rubin has a pending criminal case from 2024, where he was charged with battery on an officer.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Weeks after the Jackson attack, the Miami-Dade State Attorney\u2019s Office <a href=\"https:\/\/wsvn.com\/news\/local\/miami-dade\/miami-dade-state-attorneys-office-expected-to-reopen-case-on-patient-who-assaulted-nurse-at-jackson-memorial-hospital\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">dropped the charges<\/a> against Rubin in that case due to not being able to make contact with hospital staff victims immediately. Following 7News\u2019 story on the incident, Rubin was re-charged.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Rubin\u2019s criminal case related to this incident and Pizzi\u2019s civil case against the hospital remain open and pending.<\/p>\n<p>Copyright 2026 Sunbeam Television Corp.
