ORLANDO, Fla. \u2014 The Orlando Museum of Art<\/a> will open its doors for free Thursday as part of its monthly Access for All program.<\/p>\n

Visitors can enter the museum at no cost from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sept. 17, with guided tours, gallery activities and family-friendly programming scheduled throughout the day.<\/p>\n

The program is supported by the Art Bridges Foundation and is designed to expand access to the museum regardless of cost.<\/p>\n

\u201cAccess for All is about removing every barrier between our community and the art in these galleries,\u201d OMA CEO Cathryn Mattson said.<\/p>\n

New Florida exhibition opens<\/p>\n

Thursday\u2019s event also marks the opening of \u201cFloridiana: Material Culture from The Sunshine State.\u201d<\/p>\n

The exhibition features more than 130 objects from the collection of photographer, author and educator Gary Monroe and explores how visitors experienced and imagined Florida during the mid-20th century.<\/p>\n

OMA recently also opened \u201cHello Sophie!: The Artwork of Sophie Blackall,\u201d featuring original art from more than 50 children\u2019s books illustrated by Blackall.<\/p>\n

Thursday\u2019s schedule<\/p>\n

Noon to 1 p.m. \u2014 Art Sandwiched In Museum Educator Clara Velasquez Levin will lead a discussion of Colombian artist Fernando Botero in recognition of Hispanic Heritage Month.<\/p>\n

2:30 p.m. \u2014 Gallery Talk in English A museum curator will lead a discussion focused on abstract art.<\/p>\n

3:30 p.m. \u2014 Gallery Talk in Spanish The same abstract-art discussion will be offered in Spanish.<\/p>\n

5 to 7 p.m. \u2014 Sketching in the Galleries Drawing supplies will be available for visitors of all ages.<\/p>\n

7 p.m. \u2014 Highlights Tour A docent-led tour will take visitors through several museum galleries and featured works.<\/p>\n

Access for All is held monthly at the Orlando Museum of Art through a three-year initiative supported by the Art Bridges Foundation.<\/p>\n
