TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — A Tallahassee postal employee has pleaded guilty in federal court to stealing mail, including gift cards and cash, according to the U.S. Attorney\u2019s Office for the Northern District of Florida.<\/p>\n
Napeaches Shouetta Blair, 43, of Tallahassee, pleaded guilty to two counts of theft of mail by a postal employee. The plea was announced by John P. Heekin, U.S. attorney for the Northern District of Florida.<\/p>\n
Heekin said, \u201cOur citizens should be able to trust that the mail they deposit with the U.S. Postal Service will be delivered quickly, securely, and efficiently, but this defendant\u2019s reprehensible conduct violated that public trust and victimized numerous people as she enriched herself. Thanks to the outstanding investigative work by the USPS Inspector General and FDLE, and this successful prosecution by my office, we will ensure she is held fully accountable for her crimes.\u201d<\/p>\n
Court documents say Blair had been a U.S. Postal Service employee for about eight years when an investigation found she had stolen numerous gift cards from outgoing mail while working as a postal employee.<\/p>\n
In December 2025, investigators said Blair intercepted two envelopes containing gift cards while at work, removed the gift cards from outgoing mail and used them at a store in Tallahassee and at a gas station in Quincy.<\/p>\n
Later, in July 2026, law enforcement said they observed Blair open a letter, put $1,000 in her pocket and place the empty envelope in an outgoing mail tub. She was arrested, and law enforcement found the $1,000 in her pocket, according to court records.<\/p>\n
After the arrest, law enforcement searched Blair\u2019s vehicle and recovered numerous gift cards, court records say. Investigators also identified several victims who had sent gift cards before their mail was intercepted, and Blair was captured on security footage at various locations using stolen gift cards while still dressed in her postal employee uniform, according to court documents.<\/p>\n
Blair faces up to five years in prison on each count.<\/p>\n
The case was jointly investigated by the U.S. Postal Service Office of Inspector General and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.
