Students share concerns after man with knife detained near Miami University<\/p>\n

Students at Miami University in Oxford had a major scare on Tuesday after a shirtless man with a large knife was seen walking through the streets.<\/p>\n

Police said the man was taken to a mental hospital after students said he admitted to being high and approaching students.<\/p>\n

One Miami senior said the man with the knife came toward her while she was sitting on her porch Tuesday, just after 7 p.m.<\/p>\n

The man hasn\u2019t been charged at this point.<\/p>\n

A student said before the man was shirtless, he had a Halloween-related shirt on and made his way up to University Avenue, where houses were filled with students.<\/p>\n

\u201cI stood up, hesitated for a second, and that’s when he started running towards me,\u201d a Miami senior said. \u201cOnce I saw him, then I ran to the door, he kind of was like jogging into a sprint, but he got to our porch pretty quickly.\u201d<\/p>\n

Oxford Police said the man was taken to a hospital in the Cincinnati area.
