Dear Mayor Rasco and Members of the Key Biscayne Village Council,<\/p>\n
I strongly urge the Council to reject the proposed rezoning and 14-story development at 303 Galen Drive.<\/p>\n
Allowing a 14-story apartment building on a beautiful, tree-lined residential street characterized by predominantly three-story buildings would fundamentally and permanently alter the character of the Garden District.<\/p>\n
More importantly, approving such a dramatic increase in height and density would set a dangerous and potentially irreversible precedent for future development throughout Key Biscayne.<\/p>\n
Our Village is already struggling with excessive traffic, congestion and increasing density. At some point, we must recognize that continued development comes at the expense of the very qualities that make Key Biscayne such a special place to live.<\/p>\n
This is a decision with permanent consequences. Once this scale of development is allowed, it cannot be undone. I respectfully ask the Council to protect the character and quality of life of our Village and reject this proposal.<\/p>\n
Enough is enough. Key Biscayne does not need more density and overdevelopment.<\/p>\n
