The project would require demolition of the existing structure if approved.<\/p>\n<p>At the last DRC meeting, many neighbors pushed back on the proposal, asking instead for the site to be preserved.<\/p>\n<p>The 908 Group currently operates two student housing complexes in Tallahassee \u2014 <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/908group.com\/the-nine-tallahassee\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">The Nine @ Tallahassee<\/a> and <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/908group.com\/statehouse-woodward\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Statehouse Woodward.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>In March, commissioners accepted the company&#8217;s $11 million offer for two downtown parcels \u2014 the 2.41-acre &#8220;Chevron&#8221; block and the 2.68-acre &#8220;Johns&#8221; block.<\/p>\n<p>Its <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/go.boarddocs.com\/fla\/talgov\/Board.nsf\/pfiles\/DRMRB66D25AF\/$file\/Attachment%202%20-%20908%20Group%20Project%20Proposal.pdf\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">proposal<\/a> for that site includes a hotel with 144 rooms, 135 parking spaces, and a restaurant valued at more than $45 million, as well as an apartment complex with 239 units, 784 beds, and 412 parking spaces valued at more than $125 million.<\/p>\n<p>The meeting is set to begin at 9:00 a.m. at the Renaissance Center.<\/p>\n<p>This story was reported on-air by a journalist and has been converted to this platform with the assistance of AI.
