Tampa Bay was hitless in 13 at-bats with runners in scoring position and left 12 men on base.<\/p>\n
It was an impressive victory for the Sox, considering the 93-60 Rays are close to clinching the best record in the league and home-field advantage through, at least, the American League Championship Series.<\/p>\n
The Sox were without Ceddanne Rafaela, who isn\u2019t expected to come off the injured list until next week. Aroldis Chapman (lat strain) and Willson Contreras (bruised right hand) were not available.<\/p>\n

With Garrett Whitlock left in the bullpen after pitching Thursday night, the Sox used lefthander Erik Miller to get the final three outs for his first save with the team.<\/p>\n
Miller walked two and threw three wild pitches, giving up a run before finally getting Chandler Simpson to ground to second for the final out.<\/p>\n
Miller had allowed five runs over 5 innings and put 10 men on base in his previous six appearances. <\/p>\n
The Sox didn\u2019t arrive at the team hotel until close to 5 a.m. after beating the Rangers in Texas on Thursday night. The Rays had a day game at home that ended 13 hours earlier. But the Sox had more energy early on.<\/p>\n
Anthony blasted the third pitch of the game from Ian Seymour 438 feet to center field for his fifth home run.<\/p>\n
Trevor Story and Caleb Durbin led off the second inning with singles. Isiah Kiner-Falefa dropped a bunt to advance the runners before Nate Eaton worked a walk to load the bases.<\/p>\n
After Connor Wong struck out, Anthony worked the count full and lined a hard single to right field to drive in two more runs. The three RBIs matched his career high.<\/p>\n
Jahmai Jones homered leading off the third inning, a 414-foot shot to left field.<\/p>\n

Suarez did not handle the run support very well. He walked a hitter in each of the first four innings and threw 69 pitches. But the Rays scored only one run.<\/p>\n
Yandy D\u00edaz walked leading off the bottom of the first, advanced to third on a double by Jonathan Aranda, and scored on Junior Caminero\u2019s groundout.<\/p>\n
Suarez was done after 5\u2154 innings and 98 pitches, leaving the game with a runner at second. Wyatt Olds walked Liam Hicks and Victor Mesa Jr. on 12 pitches to load the bases.<\/p>\n
He fell behind Jake Fraley 3 and 1, then came back to strike him out swinging through a fastball at the top of the strike zone. <\/p>\n
Olds threw up his hands after finally ending the inning. It wasn\u2019t an elegant outing, but it was ultimately an effective one.<\/p>\n
Greg Weissert worked around a two-out double by Caminero in the seventh inning to keep the lead at three runs, then came back for a 1-2-3 eighth.<\/p>\n
