Despite an electric final half-hour sparked by Sh’nia Gordon’s second goal in as many matches, the equalizer remained elusive against an in-form Dallas side (3-2-1, 10 PTS).

Fort Lauderdale looked to apply early pressure, relying on the pace of Gordon, Kiara Locklear, and Farrah Walters to stretch the Dallas defense on the wings. However, the opening 30 minutes produced minimal clear-cut chances, with the visitors recording the only two shots. Dallas broke the deadlock in the 32nd minute when a high-arcing corner kick found Knox to give the visitors a 1-0 advantage.

Despite the midfield efforts of Nicole Vernis to orchestrate the Fort Lauderdale attack, the deficit worsened immediately after the intermission. Just one minute into the second half, former Fort Lauderdale forward Jasmine Hamid found the back of the net, doubling the Dallas lead and giving the hosts a mountain to climb.

The momentum shifted dramatically in the 60th minute. Locklear unlocked the Dallas defense with a perfectly weighted through ball to Gordon, who deftly sent the goalkeeper the wrong way before burying a shot into the near post. The assist added to Locklear’s club-leading all-time tally and immediately rejuvenated the Fort Lauderdale side.

Head Coach Tyrone Mears responded to the goal with a triple substitution, introducing Kelli Van Treeck, Abi Hugh, and Emily Thompson to fuel the push for an equalizer. The changes nearly paid off in the 66th minute when Van Treeck tested the Dallas keeper with a close-range effort on target.

Fort Lauderdale dictated play over the final 15 minutes, generating a flurry of dangerous chances. Gordon had a near-post effort saved in the 76th minute before threading a pass to Thompson in the 80th, resulting in a collision with the goalkeeper just outside the six-yard box. Five minutes later, a well-worked team move found Walters in the box, but her attempt toward the top-right corner sailed just wide.

The hosts pushed until the final whistle, with a late free kick nearly falling to Walters inside the penalty area, but Dallas managed to clear the danger and hold on for the three points.

The result marks Fort Lauderdale’s third consecutive defeat, following road losses to Carolina Ascent FC and Tampa Bay Sun FC, dropping them to 1-4-0, 3pts on the young Gainbridge Super League season. The club must now regroup as they head back on the road for consecutive matches, looking to reverse their early-season slide.

A spirited second-half fightback was not enough for Fort Lauderdale United FC to secure a result in their…

[17
249,251,250
post-404653","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-fort-lauderdale","tag-fort-lauderdale","tag-fort-lauderdale-headlines","tag-fort-lauderdale-news
["GET
