With the midterm elections approaching in November, U.S. Rep. Maria Elvira Salazar appears to be breaking with the Trump administration on immigration in a new ad, a rare move that has drawn attention across the political spectrum.<\/p>\n
The ad has sparked criticism from Democrats as well as some members of her own party.<\/p>\n
In an exclusive interview with NBC6, Salazar said she spoke with President Donald Trump earlier Friday about the ad and the issues it raises.<\/p>\n
“I was not attacking the president. I was warning him,” Salazar said.<\/p>\n
