Jamie T<\/a> has shared another new single \u2013 you can listen to \u2018Tallahassee\u2019 below.<\/p>\n

The introspective track serves as the latest preview of the London artist\u2019s sixth studio album, \u2018Ghosts (100 Days Of Morning)\u2019<\/a>, which is released on October 9 via Polydor. It follows on from the lead song \u20183310\u2019.<\/p>\n

\u2018Tallahassee\u2019 samples Canadian singer-songwriter Leif Vollebekk\u2019s 2017 track of the same name, and finds T (real name Jamie Treays) rapping about being \u201ca million people from one minute to the next\u201d over a hypnotic beat.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m half as good as I think I am\/ And twice as good as you think I am,\u201d he adds, before name-checking some British cultural figures as he takes stock of his place in the music scene.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m the soundtrack to your university years like Lily Allen<\/a>\/ I\u2019ve got so much shit around my bed, you\u2019d better call me Tracey [Emin]\/ I\u2019m Paul Heaton<\/a>\/ Because the only thing you\u2019ll ever hear \u2019round here is magic (Magic, magic, magic, magic).<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m Liam Howlett<\/a> in 1991\/ Driving round Romford in a Ferrari Testarossa\/ Now that\u2019s iconic\/ But I\u2019m nothing like them (Am I gonna see you at the Troubadour?)\/ I\u2019m just a plagiarist\/ Just a fucking plagiarist.\u201d<\/p>\n

Speaking about the single, Treays explained: \u201cIt was written in the very early morning of the day I played Finsbury Park<\/a>. I chose to sample @leifvollebekk<\/a>\u2019s song of the same name as it means the world to me.<\/p>\n

\u201cHis version has been a constant through some hard personal times in my life, so it felt fitting.\u201d<\/p>\n

He continued: \u201cThe song is almost me trying and failing to give myself a pep talk in the mirror before the biggest show of my career. I hope you enjoy it. It\u2019s meant to be light-hearted and fun, and I hope that comes across.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u2018Tallahassee\u2019 is accompanied by an atmospheric official music video \u2013 tune in above.<\/p>\n

Treays spoke to NME about his forthcoming album<\/a> at last month\u2019s Reading Festival<\/a>, where he played\u00a0a last-minute \u201csurprise\u201d set on the main stage<\/a>. \u2018Ghosts (100 Days Of Morning)\u2019, which follows 2022\u2019s \u2018The Theory Of Whatever\u2019<\/a>, was created using voice memos that span his career<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think it helped me to process things,\u201d he told us. \u201cI hadn\u2019t done a lot of that in my career. It\u2019s been so fast, and I\u2019ve just always been on the go. I don\u2019t think I had ever really had a minute to think about it, so it was really important.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve come out the other side of that, and I look back more fondly now on it all than I maybe did a few years ago.\u201d<\/p>\n

Treays explained that he had \u201cfelt like something was over\u201d after his 2023 Finsbury Park gig. When asked if he felt like he was done with music at that time, he replied: \u201cI never know with things like that. I\u2019m not that dramatic, really. I definitely felt something had turned in my mind, and I think I was burnt out by that point, as well. Something in my mind was telling me something\u2019s not right.\u201d<\/p>\n

He said he felt \u201cgreat at the moment\u201d and was \u201creally happy to be back around\u201d, adding: \u201cI\u2019m really proud of the new record and excited to play it to people.\u201d Watch the full video interview above.<\/p>\n

His slot at Reading was featured as one of NME\u2018s most magical moments from this year\u2019s R&L festivals<\/a>. \u201cIt was\u00a0another triumphant live moment for the Londoner, who was on top form as he delved into his back catalogue of bangers,\u201d it read.<\/p>\n

The musician kicked off his new era with a small show at London\u2019s Scala<\/a>, marking his first live performance in almost exactly two years. Here, he debuted more new music in the form of the unreleased cut \u201cWaist 36\u201d Leg 32\u2033\u2018.<\/p>\n
