{"id":405137,"date":"2026-09-20T04:46:30","date_gmt":"2026-09-20T04:46:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/405137\/"},"modified":"2026-09-20T04:46:30","modified_gmt":"2026-09-20T04:46:30","slug":"former-school-psychologist-sentenced-to-30-years-for-child-pornography-charges-wsvn-7news-miami-news-weather-sports","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/405137\/","title":{"rendered":"Former school psychologist sentenced to 30 years for child pornography charges &#8211; WSVN 7News | Miami News, Weather, Sports"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">MIAMI (WSVN) &#8211; A former Miami-Dade Schools psychologist was sentenced to three decades behind bars after being found guilty of a sickening crime. <\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On Wednesday, 64-year-old Robert Lee Turner learned his fate after <a href=\"https:\/\/wsvn.com\/news\/local\/miami-dade\/opening-statements-begin-for-former-m-dcps-autism-specialist-accused-of-possessing-distributing-child-pornography\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">facing eight counts<\/a> of child pornography charges. <\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThe jury has found you guilty of eight counts,\u201d said Miami-Dade Circuit Court Judge Cristina Miranda. <\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Turner <a href=\"https:\/\/wsvn.com\/news\/local\/miami-dade\/m-dcps-autism-specialist-arrested-for-allegedly-possessing-and-distributing-child-pornography-on-social-media\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">was arrested in 2024<\/a> after being caught with child pornography. <\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to deputies, the investigation began with a tip received from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children which traced back to Turner\u2019s IP address and phone number associated with an Instagram account. <\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A search warrant was issued and law enforcement appeared at his home. Turner attempted to barricade himself in a locked bathroom, but police kicked the door open and took him into custody.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWhat\u2019s even more disturbing is that he was a counselor for children with special needs who tend to be the most vulnerable of our juvenile population,\u201d said former Miami-Dade Police Department Det. Andre Martin.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In the courtroom on Wednesday, Turner spoke to the judge after realizing the new reality he\u2019s facing. <\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThis is something that is very serious. This is something that \u2014 it\u2019s hard,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The judge also addressed the defendant. <\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI find it very concerning that Mr. Turner, being a child psychologist and having the training that he has, can\u2019t acknowledge when there\u2019s a problem,\u201d said Miranda. <\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">After spending 30 years behind bars, he will then complete five years of sex offender probation.<\/p>\n<p>Copyright 2026 Sunbeam Television Corp.
