Orlando Walk to End Alzheimer’s brings community together for support and research<\/p>\n

The Orlando Walk to End Alzheimer’s, set for Oct. 3 at Lake Eola, will raise funds and awareness for Alzheimer’s care, support, and research, uniting families and supporters impacted by the disease. <\/p>\n

More than 580,000 Floridians are living with Alzheimer’s, supported by over 877,000 caregivers across the state, according to the Alzheimer’s Association. <\/p>\n

On Saturday, Oct. 3, the Orlando community will come together to walk, remember, and raise money for care, support, and research at the Walk to End Alzheimer’s. <\/p>\n

The Walk to End Alzheimer’s is the world’s largest event to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer’s care, support, and research. <\/p>\n

This event helps fund vital resources and research for families affected by Alzheimer’s and other dementias. <\/p>\n

Amelia McLeod, a local volunteer and Alzheimer’s Association board member, shared her personal connection to the cause. <\/p>\n

McLeod was especially close to her grandfather, Leonard Williams, who lived with Alzheimer’s disease. <\/p>\n

Watching him decline gave her a firsthand understanding of how devastating the disease is for the person diagnosed, their family, and caregivers. <\/p>\n

The Orlando Walk to End Alzheimer’s will take place at the Walt Disney Amphitheater at Lake Eola. <\/p>\n

Registration begins at 7:30 a.m., followed by the ceremony at 8:30 a.m., and the walk immediately afterward. <\/p>\n

Participants will take part in the Promise Garden ceremony, where colorful flowers symbolize personal reasons for walking.<\/p>\n
