A man was arrested in Cape Coral on Sunday after being accused of entering someone’s home without permission, threatening the victim, and refusing to leave.<\/p>\n
According to the Cape Coral Police Department arrest report, officers responded to a home around 9:06 a.m. after reports of a burglary. The victim told officers that an unknown man wearing only black shorts entered his residence through the unlocked front door.<\/p>\n
The victim said he immediately told the man to leave; however, the man only advanced further into the living room, the report said. The victim continued to tell the man to leave his home, but the unknown man refused and began to yell at the victim and his family.<\/p>\n
The man finally left the home, and the victim followed him from a distance in order to give the most accurate location to the police, the report said. The victim watched the man attempt to enter a different home before entering a canal and swimming to the opposite side.<\/p>\n
Cape Coral police located the man, identified as Lucas Pruette, in an open field near Northeast 20th Court. Officers noted that Pruette’s pupils were very small, and his speech and actions were erratic, which was consistent with signs of a person under the influence of narcotics, the report said.<\/p>\n
Pruette told officers that the cartel was after him and that he was looking for marijuana to purchase and then sell, the report said. Officers asked Pruette if he was on drugs, to which he told them he was not.<\/p>\n
The victim positively identified Pruette as the man who entered his home, and Pruette was arrested. He faces charges of simple assault, burglary of an occupied dwelling, loitering and burglary of an unoccupied conveyance.<\/p>\n
