PORT ST. LUCIE \u2013 A 37-year-old man faces felony battery charges after he was shot during an altercation at the Pollo Tropical restaurant at 1365 NW St. Lucie Blvd., Port St. Lucie on Sept. 19.<\/p>\n
Christopher Alexander Harris, 37, was arrested and charged with attempted aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and felony battery with a prior battery conviction, according to Port St. Lucie police reports.<\/p>\n
At about 3:45 p.m., Sept. 19, officers went to the Pollo Tropical after receiving reports of a shooting, according to police reports.<\/p>\n
They found Harris suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper torso. He was flown to HCA Florida Lawnwood Hospital in Fort Pierce with injuries determined to be non-life-threatening, according to police reports.<\/p>\n
Isaiah Davis, 25, another man involved, was detained at the scene as detectives investigated the incident and a firearm was found, according to police reports.<\/p>\n
With witness interviews and review of surveillance footage from the restaurant, detectives learned that an encounter between Harris and Davis started after the two men had an interaction in the parking lot, according to police reports.<\/p>\n
As Davis went into the restaurant to pick up a food delivery order, surveillance video footage showed Harris following Davis into the restaurant although Davis did not appear to place or pick up an order. As Davis left the restaurant, Harris followed him, according to police reports.<\/p>\n
Harris then began pushing Davis, advancing towards him while Davis moved backwards, the exterior surveillance video footage showed, according to police reports. Detectives learned that Harris had a knife during the confrontation and witnesses also reported seeing Harris with a knife, according to police reports.<\/p>\n

Davis then subsequently fired one round, striking Harris in the chest. Harris then went back into the restaurant, where individuals began rendering aid and called 911, according to police reports.<\/p>\n
During the investigation, officers recovered a knife which was removed from Harris\u2019 waistband while aid was being provided. An additional knife was later recovered from Harris\u2019 front pocket.<\/p>\n
Based on the physical evidence, witness statements, and surveillance footage, detectives determined Harris was the primary aggressor in the confrontation and established probable cause to charge him, according to police reports.<\/p>\n
Harris was booked into the St. Lucie County Jail on Sept. 20 where he was being held as of Sept. 21 on no bond, according to the jail web site.<\/p>\n
