{"id":406613,"date":"2026-09-21T22:26:08","date_gmt":"2026-09-21T22:26:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/406613\/"},"modified":"2026-09-21T22:26:08","modified_gmt":"2026-09-21T22:26:08","slug":"98-employees-at-orange-county-schools-at-risk-of-losing-job","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/406613\/","title":{"rendered":"98 employees at Orange County schools at risk of losing job"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>ORLANDO, Fla. \u2014 98 probationary employees, which are staff that have been hired recently, at Orange County Public Schools could lose their job.<\/p>\n<p>According to a statement from the district, 212 instructional positions were \u201cidentified for reassignment,\u201d with over half of them moved for the new school year.<\/p>\n<p>The remaining 98 employees, OCPS says, may be provided with possible opportunities for reassignment but noted there are under 20 vacancies and many of those positions require additional certifications.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe district remains committed to supporting affected employees throughout this process while ensuring that all classrooms are staffed with appropriately certified educators and that students continue to receive high-quality instruction,\u201d the statement from OCPS said.<\/p>\n<p>The cuts come as Orange County schools have <a href=\"https:\/\/mynews13.com\/fl\/orlando\/news\/2026\/08\/27\/ocps-reports-student-enrollment-decline-of-more-than-00-students\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">faced significant enrollment declines<\/a> in the past couple years.<\/p>\n<p>In August, the district reported 7,672 fewer students than last year, with officials saying the drop was driven largely by fewer children enrolling in VPK and a smaller group of incoming students tied to historically low birth rates across the country.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are experiencing a declining birth rate.
