The starry cast of an upcoming film are receiving backlash over a threesome scene involving Orlando Bloom and his co-stars and real-life sisters Rooney and Kate Mara.<\/p>\n
The movie, titled Bucking Fastard and directed by Werner Herzog, includes a sex scene in which Bloom\u2019s character gets intimate with the real-life siblings, who also play sisters in the film.<\/p>\n

Download our new app<\/a> for even more coverage<\/p>\n The provocative set-up, particularly given that the Mara sisters are actual relatives offscreen, sparked debate after Bloom described the \u201cvery sincere\u201d threesome during a recent festival appearance, with folks sounding off on his comments on social media.<\/p>\n \u201cThis is just weird,\u201d one onlooker wrote on Reddit, while another added; \u201cWhat the f**k is happening? Why would the Maras agree to this?\u201d<\/p>\n Others chimed in with similar sentiments, saying \u201cIt\u2019s weird to act out a sex scene with your sibling,\u201d wither others adding they were \u201cappalled\u201d and \u201cshocked they would actually do this.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cMy gut feeling is that it was unethical to even invite real-life sisters to act such roles,\u201d another Reddit user quipped. \u201cTalking about incest like it\u2019s poetic is gross.\u201d<\/p>\n MORE: \u2018Drastic\u2019: Who gets what in Katy, Bloom split<\/a><\/p>\n Others were less outraged by the movie\u2019s threesome plot point, arguing \u201cit\u2019s all just acting\u201d and that the Mara sisters \u201care adults\u201d who agreed to take on the roles.<\/p>\n \u201cIt seems like there\u2019s a lot of implying what happens rather than seeing it play out in detail,\u201d another defender wrote.<\/p>\n The backlash came after Bloom discussed Bucking Fastard\u2019s \u201cvery sincere\u201d threesome scene alongside Herzog at the San Sebasti\u00e1n Film Festival in Spain.<\/p>\n \u201c[There is] such simplicity to the characters and [their] carnal desires, but also an innocence to the sisters,\u201d Bloom said<\/a> of the Maras\u2019 sibling characters.<\/p>\n Bloom added that his character is \u201csensitive\u201d and \u201cout of his depth,\u201d including in the sex scene he shares with the siblings.<\/p>\n \u201c[The threesome] was a very sincere sort of moment that was created,\u201d Bloom said.<\/p>\n Herzog added that the scene was a moment where he had to \u201cstep back\u201d as a director.<\/p>\n \u201c[I told Bloom], you are in bed, and you have two women in your arms. How you deal with it, I cannot give instructions,\u201d Herzog recalled, describing the scene as \u201cbeautiful\u201d with \u201csuch charm and depth.\u201d<\/p>\n Bucking Fastard is said to be loosely based on British twins Freda and Greta Chaplin, who became notorious media fixtures in the 1980s for eerily speaking in unison and sharing the same love interest.<\/p>\n Alongside Bloom and the Mara sisters \u2013 who are acting together for the first time \u2013 the film stars Domhnall Gleeson and Hugh O\u2019Conor, and had its premiere at the Venice Film Festival earlier this month. <\/p>\n It\u2019s not the first time Bloom has made waves with an X-rated moment. In 2016, the actor went viral with a paparazzi shot<\/a> of him paddle boarding with then-partner Katy Perry while completely nude, and later explained<\/a> that he didn\u2019t suspect any cameras were nearby so he \u201chad a moment of feeling free.\u201d <\/p>\n Bloom and Perry broke up in July of last year after almost a decade together, with the pop star having since moved on with former Canadian prime minister Justin Trudeau. <\/p>\n The Pirates of the Caribbean star, meanwhile, was recently linked to Luisa Laemmel, after he was spotted leaving the Super Bowl with the Swiss model in
