At a time when St. Pete was still a little sleepy and the EDGE District was just beginning to find its identity, Intermezzo Coffee & Cocktails started as a temporary coffee pop-up by Jarrett Sabatini. Ten years later, the beloved coffee and cocktail bar is celebrating a decade of helping shape the neighborhood and the city\u2019s ever-evolving food and beverage scene.<\/p>\n

When Intermezzo first opened, the space was a far cry from the bustling destination it would become. There were a few tables and chairs, a cooler for ice, and a little espresso machine serving as the heart of the short-term operation. With its white walls and pristine terrazzo floors, the space was a blank canvas for what was to come. Intermezzo\u2019s 10th anniversary celebration this Saturday<\/a> serves as a chance to look back at how it became a star.<\/p>\n

Intermezzo quickly established itself as one of St. Petersburg\u2019s specialty coffee destinations before settling into its permanent home and expanding its identity to include an acclaimed cocktail program. With thoughtfully crafted coffee, creative cocktails, and Sabatini\u2019s genuine focus on hospitality, it became one of the city\u2019s go-to spots.<\/p>\n

Over the years, Intermezzo has also become known for its larger-than-life events. Its annual Miracle at Mezzo transforms the space into a full-blown Christmas wonderland, complete with elaborate decorations and holiday-inspired cocktails that customers look forward to all year. The seasonal Mezzo Market spills onto Baum Avenue, bringing together local vendors and hundreds of St. Pete shoppers and further cementing Intermezzo as a social hub in the heart of the EDGE District.<\/p>\n

Intermezzo\u2019s popularity has grown far beyond its original footprint, too. In 2024, the team opened its sister concept, Bar Mezzo, just across the street, expanding its presence across the block and creating even more space for the Intermezzo brand to bring its signature experience.<\/p>\n

In many ways, Intermezzo has grown alongside the EDGE District itself, helping turn it into one of St. Petersburg\u2019s most recognizable destinations for food, drinks, and nightlife.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Now, Intermezzo Coffee & Cocktails is celebrating its 10th anniversary on Saturday, September 26, with a full day of special releases, collaborations and programming that reflects a decade of coffee, cocktails and community in St. Pete.<\/p>\n

The celebration will feature limited-edition merchandise and artwork created with local collaborators, a custom anniversary coffee from Look Alive Coffee, cakes and sparkling wine, and an afternoon aperitivo hour with live jazz from 3 to 6 p.m.<\/p>\n

The festivities will continue into the evening with a cocktail party beginning at 8 p.m., featuring favorite drinks from Intermezzo\u2019s past. The celebration will culminate with a champagne saber and toast for the entire room \u2014 a fitting way to raise a glass to 10 years of Intermezzo and the St. Pete community that grew alongside it.<\/p>\n
