Republican candidate Byron Donalds spent much of his day Tuesday in Central Florida, holding two separate events, where he announced he has received the endorsement of Lt. Gov. Jay Collins, who was previously Donalds\u2019 opponent in the GOP primary.<\/p>\n
In a statement, Collins wrote: \u201cAs Lieutenant Governor, I\u2019m committed to protecting and preserving our freedoms for the people who call Florida home. We cannot afford to turn that progress over to David Jolly.\u201d<\/p>\n
Collins appeared at Donalds\u2019 campaign event Tuesday morning in Daytona Beach Shores.<\/p>\n
Jolly, meanwhile, was not on the campaign trail Tuesday, but he has several events planned over the next few days.<\/p>\n
He shared video on social media from his recent trip to Virginia, where he sought firsthand experience on data centers from Virginia residents of the area called \u201cData Center Alley.\u201d<\/p>\n
Jolly has repeatedly said he would enact a statewide moratorium on data center construction on Day One if he is elected, while suggesting Byron Donalds\u2019 acceptance of donations from data center developers would lead to more data centers in Florida.<\/p>\n
Trump\u00a0defends his decision to start war against Iran<\/p>\n
President Donald Trump returned to the U.N. General Assembly on Tuesday at a tumultuous moment for the world \u2014 and for his presidency \u2014 and made the case that he\u2019s shown fortitude while other leaders have equivocated.<\/p>\n
The president started his address ticking off progress \u2014 including adding private sector jobs, stemming illegal migration and curbing crime before turning to a fulsome defense of his decision to start a war with Iran.<\/p>\n
Trump accused Iran of stalling to make a deal to fully reopen the Strait of Hormuz and negotiate an endgame to the war until after the midterm elections in the United States<\/p>\n
\u201cI gave absolutely no credence and will not give credence to the election when it comes to Iran,\u201d Trump said. \u201cIt doesn\u2019t even enter my mind.\u201d<\/p>\n
Iran\u2019s delegation walked out as Trump railed against the Islamic Republic.<\/p>\n
Trump briefly spoke to reporters, telling them it was an honor to address the world’s body before his attention suddenly shifted to his resentments with the news media.<\/p>\n
Trump over the weekend announced a White House ban on CNN, MS NOW and Politico, claiming that their coverage of his presidency was biased. The news outlets have filed a lawsuit to restore their access to White House grounds. Trump snapped at a CNN reporter in the U.N. scrum.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m surprised that CNN is here covering me,\u201d Trump said. \u201cYou shouldn\u2019t be here.\u201d<\/p>\n
