Orlando Bloom has spoken out about his controversial threesome scene with Rooney and Kate Mara in their new film, Bucking Fastard<\/a>. <\/p>\n

The premise has raised eyebrows given that the two actors are actual sisters. <\/p>\n

Bloom plays Gareth Mulroney, a man who develops a romantic relationship with sisters Joan and Jean Holbrooke, played by The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo actor Rooney, 41, and House of Cards star Kate<\/a>, 43. In the film, the Holbrooke sisters speak in unison, dress the same and have shared dreams. They also fall in love with the same man.<\/p>\n

The Pirates of the Caribbean actor<\/a> discussed filming the m\u00e9nage \u00e0 trois scene at the San Sebasti\u00e1n Film Festival in Spain, alongside German writer-director Werner Herzog, saying that it reflects the \u201ccarnal desires\u201d of the characters.<\/p>\n

Asked about the scene, Bloom said there is \u201csuch simplicity to the characters and [their] carnal desires, but also an innocence to the sisters,\u201d according to Variety<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy character, the Bucking Fastard, is sensitive too. And he\u2019s quite quickly out of his depth in some ways. It was a very sincere sort of moment that was created.\u201d<\/p>\n

Bloom<\/a> also praised the two sisters, who, in the film, are perfectly in sync and finish each other\u2019s sentences.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was wonderful to work with these two,\u201d he said. \u201cSeeing them move and breathe and think as if they\u2019re dreaming together was super unique. I don\u2019t think you\u2019ll ever see a movie like this.\u201d<\/p>\n

Herzog added: \u201cThere are moments when a director has to step back. In the love scene, I said to Orlando: \u2018You are in bed, and you have two women in your arms. How you deal with it, I cannot give instructions.\u2019 It is beautiful because it has such charm and depth.\u201d<\/p>\n

The film premiered September 3 at the Venice Film Festival, with Rooney<\/a>, Kate and Bloom walking the red carpet together. <\/p>\n

Bloom previously spoke about his experience playing the character at the Toronto International Film Festival earlier this month. <\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s such a simple guy, I think he just walks into this beautiful m\u00e9nage \u00e0 trois,\u201d he told Entertainment Weekly<\/a>. \u201cThis idea of it as like, \u2018Okay, well, yeah, this is what we\u2019re doing.\u2019 And I think he\u2019s out of his depth before he knows it… He\u2019s a real guy\u2019s guy in the most simple ways.\u201d <\/p>\n

In the film, Bloom\u2019s relationship with the two sisters shifts, and he takes them to court after they damage his property in an act of revenge.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat I love about Bucking Fastard is that it refuses to judge its characters and offer any kind of easy answers. That is something that Werner focused on,\u201d Bloom added at the San Sebasti\u00e1n Film Festival. <\/p>\n

\u201cIt was wonderful to work with Kate and Rooney; I\u2019ve been a long admirer of both of them. We had a lot of fun in Dublin.
