Using a radar device, the trooper initially clocked the vehicle at 95 mph. The driver briefly slowed before accelerating again after passing the bridge.

The vehicle — bearing Florida license plate FVGY06 — was observed weaving through traffic while continuing to gain speed. The trooper clocked the car at 107 mph using the radar’s front antenna, then confirmed a speed of 117 mph with the vehicle directly ahead and no other cars between them.

Traffic stop, arrest

The trooper initiated a traffic stop using emergency lights and sirens. When approached, the driver was identified as the vehicle’s registered owner and was the sole occupant in the front seat, with two additional passengers in the rear.

The driver was removed from the vehicle and detained. A check through the National Crime Information Center and Florida Crime Information Center (NCIC/FCIC) revealed a seize-tag order if the registered owner was driving, and confirmed the driver’s license was not valid.

The woman was arrested and charged with two second-degree misdemeanors: operating a motor vehicle at 100 mph or more in a manner threatening to a person or property and driving while license suspended, cancelled or revoked.

Florida’s Super Speeder Law

Florida’s “Super Speeder” law went into effect in July of 2025.

If drivers are caught going 50+ miles over the speed limit or at least 100 miles per hour, they face a criminal misdemeanor.

The law also involves increased penalties for repeat convictions.

A first conviction carries up to 30 days in jail, a $500 fine, or both. A second or subsequent conviction carries up to 90 days in jail, a $1,000 fine, or both. A second or subsequent conviction within five years also triggers a driving-privilege revocation of at least 180 days and up to one year.

Copyright 2026 by WJXT News4JAX – All rights reserved.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A Florida Highway Patrol trooper arrested a 22-year-old woman Friday night after clocking her vehicle…

[8
1039,116,118,117,1872,25193
post-408388","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-jacksonville","tag-duval-county","tag-jacksonville","tag-jacksonville-headlines","tag-jacksonville-news","tag-jso","tag-super-speeder
["GET
