Allegiant Air<\/a> is preparing to launch seven new Florida<\/a> routes across just two days next week, with the first service beginning on October 1. The additions connect Florida with Boston, Pittsburgh, Omaha, Kansas City, Philadelphia, Trenton and La Crosse, and form most of an eight-route package announced in May<\/a>. The remaining route, from St. Pete-Clearwater to Columbia, Missouri, is not due to begin until November 19. At the time of the announcement, promotional one-way fares ranged from $59 to $79. <\/p>\n

The launches split neatly into two stories. Four are from Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport<\/a> (FLL), where Allegiant has been adding routes rapidly<\/a> and is set to reach 100 weekly departures in October. The other three use Orlando Sanford, St. Pete-Clearwater and Punta Gorda \u2014 all airports that much closer to the secondary-airport, low-frequency formula on which Allegiant has built much of its Florida network. <\/p>\n

Seven New Routes Launch Across Florida Next Week<\/p>\n

The new routes from Fort Lauderdale to Boston Logan International Airport<\/a> (BOS) and La Crosse\u2013Punta Gorda<\/a> both begin on October 1, followed a day later by Fort Lauderdale flights to Pittsburgh, Omaha and Kansas City. Also starting that day are St. Pete-Clearwater International Airport<\/a> (PIE) to Philadelphia International Airport<\/a> (PHL) and Orlando Sanford to Trenton. Allegiant announced all seven routes back in May, marketing them as an expansion of its Florida leisure network at a time of significant change in the US low-cost sector. <\/p>\n

The schedules are characteristically light. Cirium<\/a> data shows Boston and Pittsburgh operating three times weekly, while the other five routes are twice-weekly. That gives Allegiant considerable flexibility compared with airlines trying to support daily or multiple-daily service, and fits its longstanding strategy of linking leisure destinations with smaller and mid-sized origin markets using nonstop flying.<\/p>\n

Drew Wells, Allegiant’s Chief Commercial Officer, emphasized that serving communities often overlooked by other carriers has become a key differentiator for the airline:<\/p>\n

\u201cWe pride ourselves on offering service where it is needed most, and these additions ensure that affordable fares can remain available to consumers despite industry changes.\u201d<\/p>\n

The seven launches also arrive amid a much wider reshaping of Allegiant’s network. The airline has announced dozens of Florida additions<\/a> during 2026, but it has simultaneously trimmed numerous routes<\/a> that were seasonal, short-lived or no longer attractive. That constant pruning helps explain how Allegiant can open low-frequency routes quickly without treating every new market as a permanent commitment.<\/p>\n

Fort Lauderdale Is Becoming A Much Bigger Allegiant Airport<\/p>\n

Fort Lauderdale accounts for four of the seven launches. Boston and Pittsburgh International Airport<\/a> (PIT) will receive three weekly departures, while Omaha’s Eppley Airfield<\/a> (OMA) and Kansas City International Airport<\/a> (MCI) get two apiece. None of the routes have previously been flown by Allegiant, but interestingly, all four have direct competition. However, such is the draw of FLL these days that Allegiant is willing to take the plunge, especially as the changing business models of Southwest Airlines<\/a> and JetBlue<\/a> are opening more of a gap for a genuine low-cost carrier. <\/p>\n

The four new routes will add ten more weekly departures from FLL for Allegiant, ensuring that Fort Lauderdale is no longer a peripheral Allegiant station. Cirium schedules for the first week of October show 30 destinations and exactly 100 departures, enough to make FLL Allegiant’s sixth-largest airport by departures. US Department of Transportation data<\/a> shows Allegiant carrying 30% more passengers to\/from FLL in the first half of 2026 compared to the same period in 2025.<\/p>\n

The timing is particularly significant because the new routes were announced just two weeks after Spirit Airlines<\/a> ceased operations<\/a> in May. Spirit had flown from Fort Lauderdale to Boston, Pittsburgh and Kansas City before its shutdown, while FLL had been one of its most important airports. Allegiant is therefore filling the void as the only true Low-Cost Carrier<\/a> on the routes. <\/p>\n

Punta Gorda<\/a> (PGD) to La Crosse is the most unusual of the three. The small Wisconsin airport has historically relied on its three-times-daily connection to Chicago (ORD), courtesy of American Airlines. However, Allegiant has now moved in, and the addition of Punta Gorda will be the third route with the airline, and the first nonstop to the Tampa Bay region.<\/p>\n

Orlando Sanford International Airport<\/a> (SFB) to Trenton is actually the restoration of an earlier Allegiant route, with the airline previously operating the pair from 2016 to 2017. Frontier Airlines<\/a> serves Trenton from Orlando International Airport<\/a> (MCO) instead, so Allegiant is returning with the same basic secondary-airport differentiation it uses in many markets: Sanford rather than MCO, while giving Trenton passengers another nonstop option to Central Florida. <\/p>\n

St. Pete-Clearwater to Philadelphia follows a similar pattern. Allegiant has not previously operated the route, but it was once served by USA3000 Airways<\/a> back in 2008. Tampa\u2013Philadelphia, by contrast, is a well-established market with multiple airlines competing. Allegiant can therefore target much of the same broader leisure demand while bypassing Tampa International Airport<\/a> (TPA) and operating from PIE, already its second-largest airport by departures in the first week of October. <\/p>\n
