TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – People in Tallahassee are mourning the loss of a beloved staple in the city\u2019s restaurant community.<\/p>\n
George Koikos died this week. He was the longtime owner of Georgio\u2019s, with a deep culinary history in the city. Well-known names like Bobby Bowden and John Thrasher were among those who would visit his restaurant.<\/p>\n
Georgio\u2019s Executive Chef, Grant Beane, reflected on his friend\u2019s life. <\/p>\n
\u201cBowden and Ann was always here. Always coming in. Always went out and greeted him. Just talking to him, saying hi. He always said, How you doing, young man,\u201d Beane said.<\/p>\n
\u201cDid not matter how much older I got. That was another thing George was always talking about: \u2018You were so young.\u2019 Always a pleasure to be around. Just loved him so much. Going to miss him so much.\u201d<\/p>\n
Koikos immigrated from Greece and started working with his brother in Tallahassee. He later opened several restaurants, including the Spartan, Brothers Three and of course Georgio\u2019s.<\/p>\n
