<\/a>STUART, Fla. \u2014<\/p>\nThe Stuart Police Department partnered with Alzheimer’s Community Care on Wednesday evening to showcase resources for individuals with Alzheimer’s, dementia, and their caregivers, including the Tranquil Watch, a GPS-enabled device that provides peace of mind for families.<\/p>\n
Jeannette Brumond, a Stuart resident, shared how the device has been essential in caring for her mother, Arcadia Rosado, who began showing signs of Alzheimer’s two years ago. <\/p>\n
“I need to make sure she is safe at all times,” Brumond said. <\/p>\n
Brumond described noticing unusual behavior from her mother, such as taking spoons and forks to her room. <\/p>\n
Concerned about the risks of wandering, getting lost, or worse, Brumond decided to get her mother a Tranquil Watch. <\/p>\n
“It is truly a lifesaver. It really is,” Brumond said. <\/p>\n
The watch, which is connected to an app on Brumond’s phone, allows Brumond to track her mother’s location at all times. <\/p>\n
It also sends alerts if Rosado travels outside a designated safe zone. <\/p>\n
“It gives me peace of mind. It really does. Knowing that she’s where she’s supposed to be,” she said. <\/p>\n
The Tranquil Watch was the centerpiece of the event, with Alzheimer’s Community Care ensuring attendees knew the device is available for free. <\/p>\n
“It has a seven-day battery life. It takes an hour for it to charge. And it is amazing. I can’t say enough about it,” said Donald Davis, director of ID locator programs for Alzheimer’s Community Care. <\/p>\n
Stuart police Chief Flamur Zenelovic said he hopes everyone eligible for a Tranquil Watch gets one.<\/p>\n
“Having this device and these resources available can only safeguard our loved ones, the most precious people in our lives,” Zenelovic said. <\/p>\n
Brumond agreed.<\/p>\n
“A lot of people, if they can, they should really get the Tranquil Watch. It would really, really help them out and give them that peace of mind,” she said.<\/p>\n
