(CBS12) \u2014 Brightline is preparing to file for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in the near future, according to reports.<\/p>\n<p>As soon as this week, Brightline could file for bankruptcy in hopes of restructuring $1.1 billion of its $5.5 billion debt, according to a report from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2026-09-22\/brightline-preparing-for-bankruptcy-filing-as-soon-as-this-week\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Bloomberg<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The doubt regarding the future of Florida\u2019s popular train service has been mounting since <a href=\"https:\/\/cbs12.com\/news\/local\/brightline-passenger-rail-florida-future-jeopardy-bankruptcy-train-debt-audit-interest-miami-orlando-auditors-financial-filings-interest-lenders?utm_source=chatgpt.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">earlier this year<\/a>, when the first rumblings about the company\u2019s debt began to mount.<\/p>\n<p>See also: <a href=\"https:\/\/cbs12.com\/news\/local\/florida-woman-featured-in-cbs12-investigation-takes-flock-camera-case-to-congress-florida-news-florida-politics-news-congress-local-flock\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Florida woman featured in CBS12 investigation takes Flock camera case to Congress<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The company \u2014 which began in 2018 \u2014 has been growing in revenue, generating $214 million in 2025 after making $188 million in 2024, according to Bloomberg. Despite the growth, it hasn\u2019t been fast enough to repay its ever-so-mounting debt.<\/p>\n<p>Brightline\u2019s operating railroad isn\u2019t expected to be part of the filing, according to the reports.
