Witnessing the effects of poverty, homelessness, addiction and trauma inspired a career in social work \u2013 one he says ultimately chose him.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">During his 17 years with Memorial Healthcare System, Guzman has supported patients across behavioral health, including on the Medication Assisted Treatment Team during the opioid crisis and COVID-19 pandemic. Today, as Social Work Supervisor for the Pediatric Emergency Department at Joe DiMaggio Children\u2019s Hospital, he helps children and families navigate some of life\u2019s most difficult moments.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Guzman believes every patient deserves a safe space to share their story and know they are not facing it alone.
