Miranda Kerr <\/a>is sharing a candid insight into how tough her split from Orlando Bloom<\/a> was for her mental health.<\/p>\n

Speaking on \u201cThe Jess Rowe Big Talk Show\u201d podcast<\/a> on Thursday, September 24, Kerr, 43, explained how going through the divorce was one of her toughest challenges. (Kerr and Bloom married in July 2010 and welcomed their son Flynn in January 2011. The pair announced their separation in October 2013.)<\/p>\n

\u201cObviously my public divorce, separation with Orlando, that was something that was another challenging time,\u201d Kerr explained to host Jessica Rowe, adding, \u201cAfter we separated, I went through a little bit of like, depression.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Victoria\u2019s Secret model continued, \u201cAnd it was so odd for me because I\u2019m a naturally joyful person. And like my mother would call me Giggly Gertrude. Like that was my name, my nickname as a kid because it was always very joyful and giggly.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tMiranda Kerr has broken her silence about ex-husband Orlando Bloom\u2019s split from Katy Perry. The model, who shares 14-year-old son Flynn with Bloom, discussed the situation while appearing on the Wednesday, September 3 edition of KIIS FM\u2019s \u201cKyle & Jackie O Show.\u201d \u201cWe\u2019re one big, happy family,\u201d Kerr, 42, told the outlet. \u201cKaty is amazing, [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n

Kerr shared why it felt so emotionally difficult<\/a> for her marriage to Bloom, 49, to fall apart at the time.<\/p>\n

\u201cGoing through\u2026 the thought of being with someone and then having your life together and then that not being the case is something, you know, it was very challenging for me, but I knew that it was the right decision and we remained super friendly and close throughout it all and have put the needs of Flynn first before our own needs. And I feel like we\u2019ve done really well at that. \u201c<\/p>\n

The Kora Organics founder said she hoped that she and Bloom can be a good example for other parents who are grappling with coparenting after calling it quits<\/a>. \u201cWe can hopefully encourage other people to do the same and to put the children first and not your own hurt,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

To help heal and move on from her relationship breakdown, Kerr noted that she embraced meditation and yoga and turned inwards.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is a decision that we both mutually agreed was good for us. I understand logistically, but my body isn\u2019t catching up to my mind that understands, right?\u201d Kerr explained. \u201cSo there was some kind of disconnect that was happening and I and I just felt like I wasn\u2019t the best version of myself.\u201d<\/p>\n

She continued, \u201cI felt like my body had to move through the waves of feelings that would come up out of nowhere and it was processing and it was really just me giving myself the time to process and instead of trying to fix it like automatically, it was time to feel the feelings.\u201d<\/p>\n

Bloom and Kerr were originally married from 2010 to 2013. The pair share son Flynn, who was born in January 2011. The businesswoman later tied the knot with Evan [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n

Kerr added that learning to \u201cforgive\u201d was a crucial step for her to let go and ultimately \u201cfreed\u201d her.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was time to forgive and release. It was time to be patient with myself and not feel like I had to have it all together and had to have it all perfect because I didn\u2019t,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

Kerr noted that another thing that helped her was \u201cbeing truthful with yourself and saying, you know what, this is hard and I\u2019m having a hard time and I don\u2019t really know the way out, but I\u2019m just going to take it day by day and try.\u201d<\/p>\n

Since their divorce, Bloom and Kerr have both had other relationships. Kerr married Evan Spiegel in May 2017. They share three sons together<\/a>: Hart, 8, Myles, 6, and Pierre, 2.
