TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – A high school art teacher at Florida State University Schools received a surprise recognition and nomination for teacher of the month, an honor presented by WCTV and Addition Financial. <\/p>\n
Allison Prater taught middle school art for the past 6 years and seamlessly transitioned to teaching high school art this year. Her students describe her as a kind and patient teacher with a great love for the arts. <\/p>\n
Zyan Ramos, a senior at Florida State University High says, \u201cI love how she teaches. It\u2019s very understandable to me and I have like trouble focusing in class a lot, but in her class I never struggled. I really like her teaching style as well because she explains it. She\u2019s always trying to help you. She always just makes everybody feel so welcome.\u201d<\/p>\n
Not only is she an amazing teacher, but she also sets an example of lifelong learning, earning her master\u2019s degree and even publishing her art. <\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m just really thankful. I really love my job. I love what I do. I love my students. So to have someone see that and just put that into words, how much I love and care for my students and how much I love my job, it\u2019s just, it\u2019s really an honor,\u201d said Prater. <\/p>\n
