Last week, 38-year-old Juming Delmas was arrested on numerous counts of aggravated child abuse and child neglect, according to court documents. He was taken into custody at Tallahassee International Airport as he arrived home after being notified of the investigation, the records revealed.<\/p>\n

WCTV previously reported that Delmas was the president of Infinite Spectrum, according to the organization\u2019s website.<\/a> The nonprofit offers support and resources for those with autism. <\/p>\n He appeared in court last Friday, where he was denied bond until his next hearing.<\/p>\n But during the 38-year-old\u2019s pre-trial detention hearing Thursday, which lasted nearly three hours, his defense requested a conditional release. His attorneys argued that Delmas did not pose a flight risk or any threat to the community.<\/p>\n Judge J. Lee Marsh said he expected to decide within 24 hours.<\/p>\n However, the state prosecutor confirmed with WCTV Friday that the judge ruled to keep Delmas in jail without bond.<\/p>\n WCTV obtained the judge\u2019s order, which stated the court found that the evidence shows the victim was \u201cin mortal fear\u201d of Delmas \u201cbased on the beatings he received for any disrespect or disobeying.\u201d<\/p>\n During that hearing Thursday, two witnesses also took the stand, including a Leon County Sheriff\u2019s Office detective. <\/p>\n A forensic analyst with LCSO testified that they collected more than 400 hours of video footage from the suspect\u2019s home. The footage reportedly included clips of Delmas physically abusing the teen dating back to January.<\/p>\n More on crime in our area<\/p>\n Prosecutors argued that the video evidence alone was enough to keep Delmas behind bars.<\/p>\n \u201cHe [Delmas] uses words of control and power. He [Delmas] taunts and mocks his victim. He [Delmas] leaves him handcuffed in the dark at times. The videos can best be described as torture,\u201d according to the judge\u2019s motion to keep the suspect behind bars without bond.<\/p>\n The defense did not challenge the state\u2019s video evidence.<\/p>\n Prosecutors also played a 911 call from one of the 38-year-old\u2019s neighbors, who reported hearing the victim screaming early last week. <\/p>\n The pre-trial detention hearing comes nearly a week after WCTV spoke with the victim\u2019s mother<\/a>, who pleaded not to allow Delmas \u201cto buy his way out of his inhumane cruelty.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cMy son is missing 3-4 teeth in the front of his mouth. Juming is a danger to society and less than a human,\u201d she said. \u201cI was told by DCF that this was one of the worst cases they\u2019ve ever seen.
