JACKSONVILLE, Fla. \u2014 A teenager told Jacksonville police Wednesday he was on Dunn Avenue when he was offered a ride by four strangers. After getting into the car, he told officers it drove off and then he was beaten by the unknown males and pistol-whipped. His wallet was taken, according to a police news release.<\/p>\n
Officers learned about the incident after being called to the 1500 block of Vantage Way S at about 10:20 a.m. for a report of an armed robbery, the news release states. The teen was taken to the hospital where he was treated and released for injuries to his face, police said.<\/p>\n
About eight and a half hours later, officers were called back to the same hospital where the teen returned with a gunshot wound to his upper right thigh, police said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe wound was received during the early-morning robbery but went unreported by the victim and undetected by the hospital,\u201d the news release states.<\/p>\n
