The increased rate is expected to bring in approximately $2.1 million more than the previous rate would have. While the rate jump will bring in more money for the city, that tax will have to be paid by homeowners.

This also comes after the city raised the rate on water, sewer, and garbage the day before the millage rate. Again, this rate increase will fall on the backs of homeowners.

A notice sent to residents earlier this year tied the increase to anticipated operating costs, capital expenses and continuing cost increases.

Mayor Nick Nesta commented saying ““We didn’t want to raise rates, but we gotta get these projects done,” said the mayor. “At the end of the day, if you want quality water and water that has the right pressure… these projects have to get done.”

We’re asking the city multiple questions, including what exactly led to the new job cuts, and if the jobs will be replaced.

We’ll let you know what we learn.

Copyright 2026 by WKMG ClickOrlando – All rights reserved.

[11
10514,20417,163380,1335,139,141,140,163381
post-412094","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-orlando","tag-apopka","tag-job","tag-job-loss","tag-orange-county","tag-orlando","tag-orlando-headlines","tag-orlando-news","tag-severance
["GET
