South Florida is experiencing its first significant cold front of the season today, bringing a sharp drop in temperatures, gusty winds, and hazardous beach and boating conditions. <\/p>\n
Cold Front Arrives<\/p>\n
A strong cold front is moving through the Florida peninsula early Monday. As the front continues southward, skies will gradually clear and drier air will settle in. Behind the front, breezy north winds of 10\u201315 mph with gusts up to 30 mph. Highs today will remain in the 70s and lower 80s.<\/p>\n

This change in wind direction will usher in a dry and chilly air mass. Temperatures will fall dramatically tonight into Tuesday, with the coldest conditions expected Tuesday morning.<\/p>\n
Overnight lows will drop into the upper 30s inland and 40s at the coast with wind chills making it feel up to 10 degrees colder. <\/p>\n
After a cold start to Tuesday, afternoon highs will struggle to make it out of the 60s by the afternoon with a strong north wind. <\/p>\n
Cold Weather Advisory<\/p>\n
The National Weather Service has issued a Cold Weather Advisory for Okeechobee, Inland Indian River, St. Lucie and Martin Counties as well as Palm Beach County from 4 a.m. to 9 a.m. Tuesday. Wind chills below 35F could pose risks of hypothermia with prolonged exposure.<\/p>\n

The cold spell will begin to ease by Wednesday, with morning lows still chilly, in the 40s inland and near 60 along the coast.
