Between Magic Kingdom’s ongoing expansion and the steady stream of updates happening at Disney Springs, permits are getting filed constantly, and it’s genuinely hard to keep up with all of them. So we pulled together everything that’s recently landed in one place, ten total permits, so you can see the full picture without digging through separate filings yourself.

Credit: nick99nack, Flickr

If you’ve got a Disney World trip coming up and you’re curious what might look different by the time you arrive, this roundup should give you a solid sense of what’s actually in motion right now.

Pirates of the Caribbean Gets Two Separate Permits
Credit: Paul Beattie, Flickr

Magic Kingdom accounts for three of the ten permits, and two of them both involve Pirates of the Caribbean. Disney’s Sourcing and Procurement team filed both filings, with one covering the facade and queue area of the ride at 4873B Caribbean Way, and the other covering the actual show building itself at 4875 Caribbean Way.

Buena Vista Construction Company is the contractor listed for the job, tasked with providing “labor, materials and/or electrical for construction.” Disney hasn’t announced specifics on what work is actually planned, though general maintenance seems like the most likely explanation given how the permits are worded. There’s also no confirmation yet on whether the attraction will close for any stretch of time, or whether Disney plans to handle the work during overnight hours when the park is already closed. We’ll be watching for updates as more information comes out.

A Mystery Permit Points to Something New Near Haunted Mansion
Credit: Disney

The third Magic Kingdom permit is the most intriguing of the bunch. Walt Disney Imagineering recently filed a general construction permit listing PCL Construction as the contractor, but the address attached to the filing, 1610 Magic Kingdom Dr, doesn’t actually exist in the system yet.

The closest real address on record belongs to Haunted Mansion, sitting at 1600 Magic Kingdom Dr, which places this new project somewhere in that general area. Given everything we’ve been tracking with Magic Kingdom’s ongoing expansion, this filing lines up nicely with something Disney has already teased. Since the address doesn’t currently exist, it strongly suggests a brand new structure rather than any work on an existing building.

Our best guess is that this is a new restroom facility tied to Piston Peak. At D23, a scale model of the Piston Peak land displayed inside the Horizons Imagineering pavilion showed a building with restroom signage sitting in that exact spot. Disney hasn’t confirmed this officially, but the location and timing make it a pretty likely outcome.

Disney Springs Has Seven Permits of Its Own
Credit: Disney

The bulk of the recent activity is actually happening over at Disney Springs, where seven separate permits have been filed across the shopping and dining district. All seven list Buena Vista Construction Company as the contractor, and all are categorized under general construction. Disney hasn’t shared specific details on the work involved beyond describing it as general maintenance.

The permit that seems likely to have the biggest impact covers the Disney Springs bridge crossing the lagoon between Marketplace and Town Center, the one located near the LEGO Store that leads toward Rainforest Cafe. Disney hasn’t announced a timeline for the work, and there’s no confirmation yet on whether the bridge will need to close at any point. Given how central that bridge is to moving between different sections of Disney Springs, any potential closure would be worth watching closely if you’re planning a visit.

The remaining Disney Springs permits cover a handful of specific locations, including Raglan Road Irish Pub and Restaurant, Paddlefish, The LEGO Store, The BOATHOUSE, UNIQLO, and Happy Hound Kiosk. As with the bridge, Disney hasn’t released refurbishment details or confirmed whether any of these spots will temporarily close. What we do know for certain is that all of the Disney Springs permits share the same expiration date, September 21, 2027, giving contractors a fairly wide window to complete whatever work is planned.

Visiting Soon? Here’s The Scoop

None of these permits currently point to confirmed closures, so there’s no need to rework travel plans based on what’s known right now. That said, general maintenance permits at Disney World often do lead to at least some visible changes, whether that’s scaffolding, walled off walkways, or temporary operational adjustments at specific locations.

If Pirates of the Caribbean is a must do attraction for your trip, it’s worth checking Disney’s official attraction status closer to your travel dates, just in case any of this maintenance work leads to a temporary closure down the line. The same goes for Disney Springs, especially if your visit involves dining at Raglan Road, Paddlefish, or The BOATHOUSE, or shopping at UNIQLO or The LEGO Store. None of these appear to be shutting down anytime soon based on current information, but permits like this sometimes precede announcements that come with little advance notice.

The mystery building near Haunted Mansion is probably the least likely to affect an actual visit in the near term, since it sits in a currently undeveloped area rather than anywhere guests typically walk. Still, it’s a good example of how much groundwork happens well before Disney makes anything official, and it’s exactly the kind of detail that helps explain what guests will eventually see once Piston Peak officially opens.

For now, this is simply Disney laying the groundwork across multiple corners of the resort, and we’ll keep tracking any updates as more permits get filed or existing ones reveal actual scope of work.

Curious about any of these specific locations, or noticed something under construction on a recent visit? Let us know in the comments, we’ll keep this roundup updated as more details come in.

Get daily updates from Inside the Magic

I’d like to receive emails from Inside the Magic.

Credit: Wally Gobetz, Flickr Keeping track of construction at Walt Disney World has practically become a full time…

[11
48869,139,141,140
post-412112","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-orlando","tag-disney-news","tag-orlando","tag-orlando-headlines","tag-orlando-news
["GET
