FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (WKRC) – A teenager was shot by an Airbnb renter after he allegedly tried breaking into the property.<\/p>\n
The shooting happened around 6 p.m. on Sept. 24 in Fort Lauderdale, according to WPLG.<\/a> Police received reports of an attempted robbery. Upon arriving at the scene, officers found a man shot in the upper torso.<\/p>\n The Fort Lauderdale Police Department said two armed men broke into the Airbnb and got into an “altercation” with the renter, who then shot 18-year-old Dareon Pubien in the chest. <\/p>\n \u201cI just heard the shots, maybe at least 10, and then everybody went running,\u201d said area resident Arthur Butler Junior, according to WSVN.<\/a><\/p>\n After being shot, Pubien fled the scene on foot. He was later found bleeding near the home by police. Emergency crews moved him to a nearby hospital, where he is said to be in critical but stable condition.<\/p>\n Pubien now faces charges of attempted murder and home invasion with a firearm. A second man arrested in connection to the robbery was identified as 25-year-old Sean Thompson. He faces the same charges at Pubien.<\/p>\n
