Fort Lauderdale, FL – A Fort Lauderdale home was damaged twice Thursday when a crane fell onto the property and a second crane toppled during efforts to remove it.

Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue responded around 9:15 a.m. September 24 to a home in the 800 block of Southeast Eighth Street. The first crane, mounted on a truck, leaned against the house after the vehicle overturned. Video released by fire rescue showed the truck hanging at an angle, with just one tire touching the ground.

The initial collapse damaged part of the roof and a back wall, according to NBC 6 South Florida. A friend of the homeowner told the station the house was under construction. Fire rescue officials said no one was injured.

Crews brought another crane to the property to lift the first one off the house. During that operation, the second crane also fell, sending both pieces of equipment back onto the home. The second collapse was captured on video.

Afterward, a hazardous materials team responded to a diesel fuel leak, fire rescue officials said. A fire inspector and a city building inspector were called to evaluate the property and check for additional structural concerns.

Officials had not said what caused either crane to fall. No injuries were reported after the second collapse, according to local news coverage. The extent of the damage and the timeline for removing the equipment were not immediately clear.

The incident took place southeast of downtown Fort Lauderdale, near U.S. 1. The published reports did not identify a suspect or describe an arrest related to the collapses.

[17
102805,25059,22521,163437,249,251,250,320,481,6974
post-412396","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-fort-lauderdale","tag-collapse","tag-crane","tag-crews","tag-efforts","tag-fort-lauderdale","tag-fort-lauderdale-headlines","tag-fort-lauderdale-news","tag-home","tag-property","tag-removal
["GET
