\u2014 TrintonBreeze (@TrintonBreeze) September 27, 2026<\/a>Miami is a heavy road favorite at Clemson<\/p>\n Since joining the ACC in 2004, the Hurricanes are 3-6 against the Tigers (7-7 overall) and have lost in their last three trips to Clemson, but they got the last win of the series, a 28-20 decision at Hard Rock Stadium in 2023.\u00a0<\/p>\n Clemson has won three straight since opening with a 51-10 loss at LSU. The Tigers haven’t necessarily been pleasing to the eyes, but they are winning in a practical way that should remind people that Dabo Swinney can still coach a little despite those of us who expected his demise.<\/a><\/p>\n Still, Miami is a big favorite, and it should be. The Hurricanes have advantages at nearly every position on the field, and the Tigers are trying to work with a very shaky freshman quarterback, Tait Reynolds, whose only job appears to be not to mess things up.<\/p>\n Clemson showed a focus on time of possession in its Week 4 run on the road against Cal, and it wouldn’t surprise me if the Tigers tried to continue that trend and play a very conservative game to limit Miami’s offensive possessions.\u00a0<\/p>\n The Hurricanes are still trying to work out some kinks on both sides of the ball, but there are significant signs of improvement, especially with the pass rush on defense. Darian Mensah had sent the word to his secondary receivers that they needed to do more to help out Malachi Toney and that message seemed to be received.<\/p>\n However, Mario Cristobal is still smarting over some of the penalties from the win against the Chippewas<\/a>, and he knows that 13 penalties for over 100 yards won’t fly against Clemson.<\/p>\n “We have to be a little bit more sensible as it relates to a block on a quarterback,” he said in the postgame press conference.
