Updated Sept. 27, 2026, 5:02 p.m. ET<\/p>\n

Week 4 in the SEC was unlike any other the conference has seen this season: The slate featured four ranked vs. ranked matchups.<\/p>\n

The conference kicked off Saturday in Knoxville where ESPN’s “College GameDay” set up for the top-25 clash between Texas and Tennessee inside Neyland Stadium. Later in the afternoon was another top-25 showdown in Gainesville between Ole Miss and Florida, while Georgia faced Oklahoma in a huge clash in Athens.<\/p>\n

Finishing the slate was a night headlined by a pair of games between ranked teams in Baton Rouge and Starkville.<\/p>\n

Following is a look at how those results affected the SEC football power rankings entering Week 5.<\/p>\n

16. Arkansas Razorbacks\"SepNeed a news break? Check out the all new PLAY hub with puzzles, games and more!<\/a><\/p>\n

Arkansas (2-2, 0-1 SEC) snapped a two-game skid Saturday night with a 34-6 nonconference home win over Tulsa. The Razorbacks nearly doubled Tulsa in total yards and were led by a three touchdown performance from quarterback KJ Jackson, two of which came on the ground.<\/p>\n

A road trip to Kyle Field and Texas A&M awaits the Razorbacks in Week 5.<\/p>\n

15. South Carolina Gamecocks\"Sep<\/p>\n

South Carolina (2-2, 0-2) dropped its second consecutive game with a 49-18 loss at Alabama<\/a>. The Gamecocks compiled 419 yards of offense, but played catch up the entire game following a fast start from Alabama they could not overcome.<\/p>\n

Returning home, South Carolina will host Kentucky in Week 5.<\/p>\n

14. Vanderbilt Commodores\"Sep<\/p>\n

Vanderbilt (3-1, 0-1) suffered its first loss of the season at Auburn, 21-15. The Commodores received a trio of field goals from kicker Brock Taylor, but could not overcome a 14-3 halftime deficit.<\/p>\n

A road trip to Georgia looms in Week 5 as Vanderbilt’s toughest test yet.<\/p>\n

13. Auburn Tigers\"Auburn<\/p>\n

Auburn (3-1, 1-1) returned to the win column with a 21-15 home win over Vanderbilt. The Tigers built a first-half lead, which helped them win despite being shut out in the second half.<\/p>\n

Auburn’s first true road game comes in Week 5 at Tennessee.<\/p>\n

12. Oklahoma Sooners\"Sep<\/p>\n

Oklahoma (2-2, 0-1) opened SEC play with a rough showing at Georgia that resulted in a 41-13 loss. The Sooners had four turnovers in the loss, three from quarterback John Mateer.<\/p>\n

A bye week awaits the Sooners.<\/p>\n

11. Texas A&M Aggies\"Sep<\/p>\n

Texas A&M (2-2, 0-2) suffered a surprising road loss at LSU, 35-6. The Aggies simply struggled in Baton Rouge, headlined by a 506-197 yardage deficit for the game.<\/p>\n

Looking to snap a two-game skid, Texas A&M returns home to host Arkansas.<\/p>\n

10. Kentucky Wildcats\"Sep<\/p>\n

Kentucky (3-1, 1-1) defeated South Alabama at home in nonconference action, 45-21. The Wildcats had a big showing on the ground. They rushed for 390 yards. CJ Baxter, Jason Patterson and Jovantae Barnes each hit the 100-yard mark.<\/p>\n

A road trip to South Carolina in SEC play awaits Kentucky in Week 5.<\/p>\n

9. Missouri Tigers\"Sep<\/p>\n

Missouri (3-1, 0-1) had its undefeated start to the season end with a 31-24 loss at Mississippi State. The Tigers received three touchdown passes from Austin Simmons, but were shut out in the fourth quarter, giving up a second-half lead.<\/p>\n

Columbia will be the site of an important SEC game in Week 5 when Missouri hosts Florida.<\/p>\n

8. Tennessee Volunteers\"Tennessee<\/p>\n

Tennessee (3-1, 0-1) nearly pulled off a major upset Saturday afternoon against Texas, but fell to the top-ranked Longhorns in Knoxville, 20-17. Despite a rough showing offensively, the Volunteers defense kept Tennessee in the game, eventually giving them a chance to win on the final play before a midfield heave toward the end zone fell incomplete.<\/p>\n

The Volunteers will remain at home in SEC play in Week 5 against Auburn.<\/p>\n

7. Mississippi State Bulldogs\"Sep<\/p>\n

Mississippi State (4-0, 2-0) remained undefeated with a huge 31-24 win over Missouri in Starkville. Kamario Taylor had another big showing by throwing three touchdown passes, which helped Mississippi State mount a comeback in the fourth quarter to take the lead.<\/p>\n

The Bulldogs will host likely the SEC’s biggest Week 5 game against Alabama.<\/p>\n

6. Ole Miss Rebels\"Sep<\/p>\n

Ole Miss (3-1, 1-1) suffered its first loss of the season at Florida, 52-28. Despite a three-touchdown showing from quarterback Trinidad Chambliss, the Rebels defense surrendered 302 rushing yards and six scores on the ground.<\/p>\n

The Rebels enter a bye week.<\/p>\n

5. Florida Gators\"Sep<\/p>\n

Florida (4-0, 2-0) had arguably the SEC’s biggest win of Week 4, an impressive 52-28 home victory over Ole Miss. The Gators ran for 302 yards, headlined by 142 yards and three touchdowns from star running back Jadan Baugh.<\/p>\n

SEC play will continue for Florida in Week 5 on the road at Missouri.<\/p>\n

Alabama (4-0, 2-0) cruised to a big 49-18 home win over South Carolina after a big first half. Keelon Russell led the Crimson Tide with five total touchdowns, four of which came through the passing game.<\/p>\n

The Crimson Tide will travel for likely the SEC’s biggest Week 5 matchup at Mississippi State.<\/p>\n

3. LSU Tigers\"Sep<\/p>\n

LSU (3-1, 1-1) routed Texas A&M in Baton Rouge, 35-6. The Tigers dominated the matchup by not only forcing a pair of Aggie turnovers, but also outgaining Texas A&M in yardage, 506-197.<\/p>\n

One final nonconference game awaits LSU at home in Week 5 against McNeese.<\/p>\n

2. Texas Longhorns\"Texas<\/p>\n

Texas (4-0, 1-0) remained unbeaten Saturday afternoon with a 20-17 road win at Tennessee, narrowly avoiding the potential upset. The Longhorns defense was undoubtedly the biggest story in the win by limiting Tennessee to 221 yards of total offense, while also racking up 10 sacks as a team, five of which were from Colin Simmons.<\/p>\n

A bye week awaits the Longhorns.<\/p>\n

1. Georgia Bulldogs\"Sep<\/p>\n

Georgia (4-0, 2-0) remains in the top spot following a dominant 41-13 home rout of Oklahoma. The Bulldogs forced four Oklahoma turnovers in the win, headlined by an 85-yard fumble returned for a touchdown by Chris Cole.<\/p>\n

Next up for Georgia is another SEC home game against Vanderbilt.<\/p>\n
