JSO responds to incident at apartment complex off Southside Boulevard (WJXT)<\/p>\nJACKSONVILLE, Fla. \u2013 A man was hospitalized Sunday night after a bizarre incident that began with a fight at a Southside apartment complex pool, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff\u2019s Office.<\/p>\n
JSO said officers were called around 8 p.m. to the report of a battery at the pool in the Ciel Luxury Apartments on Skyway Drive near Southside and J. Turner Butler boulevards.<\/p>\n
Officers separated the people involved in the fight as soon as they got to the scene. They said one of the people was found at a nearby apartment unit, but when officers tried to take him into custody, he \u201cbegan resisting officers.\u201d<\/p>\n
The initial report did not indicate what specifically the man was doing to resist, but JSO said another person stepped in and tried to grab the officer.<\/p>\n
As the officer was fighting with the second person, the first person ran into a bedroom and barricaded himself, police said.<\/p>\n

A K-9 officer was called to help get the man out of the bedroom, and he willingly surrendered when he heard the dog, JSO said.<\/p>\n
But when he came out of the bedroom, he was suffering from a self-inflicted wound, officers said.<\/p>\n
Officers helped the man until paramedics arrived and took him to the hospital, where he is expected to recover.<\/p>\n
JSO said no officers were hurt during the incident.<\/p>\n
