Cape Coral, FL \u2014 On September 24, 2026, at approximately 6:16 p.m., officers with the Cape Coral Police Department responded to the Circle K gas station located at 935 Country Club Boulevard in reference to a report of shots fired.<\/p>\n

Call notes indicated that a man fired a handgun during a disturbance in the parking lot. The suspect was the passenger of a red SUV that fled the scene.<\/p>\n

The victim arrived at the Cape Coral Police Department immediately after the incident to report what happened. He told officers after getting gas, he was waiting for traffic to clear so he could drive out of the parking lot. He heard a vehicle behind him honking and saw the occupants apparently trying to get his attention.<\/p>\n

The victim said he exited his vehicle and explained that he was waiting for traffic to clear. At that point, the passenger of the red SUV exited the vehicle and approached him. The victim said the passenger pulled out a handgun and fired a round away from him while threatening to kill him. The victim said the suspect then pushed him backward and pointed the handgun at his head. He said the driver of the red SUV also told him he was going to die.<\/p>\n

The victim provided officers with a description of the vehicle and its tag number.<\/p>\n

Surveillance video from the Circle K shows the victim pulling up to the exit of the parking lot, followed by the suspect vehicle. The victim is seen exiting his vehicle and walking toward the suspect vehicle. The passenger then exits the red SUV and approaches the victim. The suspect appears to point an object at the victim\u2019s upper body as the victim backs away. The passenger then gets back into the red SUV, and the vehicle leaves the scene.<\/p>\n

Witnesses told officers they saw the victim exit his vehicle and approach the suspect vehicle. They said the passenger exited the vehicle, displayed a handgun, and fired one round into the air. The suspect then approached the victim and pointed the handgun at him.<\/p>\n

A 9mm spent shell casing was recovered from the Circle K parking lot.<\/p>\n

Officers went to the registered address associated with the tag number provided by the victim. The suspect vehicle was parked in the driveway. The driver was exiting the vehicle, and a man matching the description of the suspect, later identified as Zachariah Lowman (DOB 10\/29\/1986), was also in the driveway. Both men were detained.<\/p>\n

A live round was found on the ground in the driveway near the front passenger-side door of the SUV. A spent shell casing was also found in the driveway closer to the road. Both items were marked \u201c9MM.\u201d<\/p>\n

The victim participated in a show-up identification and positively identified Lowman as the suspect who pointed a handgun at him.<\/p>\n

Detectives with the Violent Crimes Unit responded to the scene and took over the investigation.<\/p>\n

During the execution of a search warrant on the residence and vehicle, detectives located a black 9mm handgun inside the vehicle.<\/p>\n

Based on the investigation, Zachariah Lowman (DOB 10\/29\/1986) was arrested and taken to the Lee County Jail on the following charges:<\/p>\n
