Hollywood Police are asking for the public’s help in identifying a person of interest in connection with two vehicle burglaries.<\/p>\n
The burglaries happened on Sept. 5 shortly after midnight, near the Hollywood Beach Broadwalk and Thomas Street. Police did not say if anything was taken. <\/p>\n
Cameras rolling outside the Marriott Hotel caught footage of a person in white pants carrying what looks like a white bag walking down the Broadwalk and passing the hotel’s outdoor dining area.<\/p>\n
An employee who works at the hotel said he was surprised to hear what happened.<\/p>\n
“I have never seen that guy before, and I’ve never seen him around here either,” he said. “Usually it\u2019s a very easy, nice area. No incidents.”<\/p>\n
One visitor staying in the area on vacation said it\u2019s unsettling.<\/p>\n
“That\u2019s not good… People park their cars here, you know, like believing everything here is [a] good neighborhood,” he said. <\/p>\n
Another video captures the same person on camera walking further down the Broadwalk.<\/p>\n
A woman staying at the Marriott said she wasn’t surprised to hear about the burglaries, and that the area could use more light.<\/p>\n
“There\u2019s not a lot of lights. It\u2019s dark at night,” she said. “This end of the boardwalk is a little creepy at night.”<\/p>\n
