CLEMSON, S.C. —

For the second time in this young college football season, the Clemson Tigers have an opportunity to make a primetime statement against a highly touted opponent when they host No. 4 Miami in Death Valley on Saturday night (7:30 PM, ABC).

After a season-opening blowout loss in Baton Rouge against then No. 11 LSU, the Tigers have rebounded with three straight wins, including a 24-10 victory over Cal last Friday in which they held one of the nation’s top passing attacks to a season-low 145 yards.

But Clemson steps up in weight class once more when the Hurricanes come to town.

“This is a team, in my opinion, that really doesn’t have any weaknesses,” Dabo Swinney said of the Hurricanes.

Led by Duke transfer quarterback Darian Mensah, Miami is fifth in the nation in passing yardage and fourth in points per game. Mensah, who threw for 361 yards and four touchdowns in the Blue Devils’ win over Clemson last season, leads the country with 11 passing touchdowns this season.

“When you look at what they’ve done offensively, it’s like looking at a video game,” Swinney said.

Like Mensah, Miami sophomore wide receiver Malachi Toney is a fellow Heisman candidate who has 34 receptions for 564 yards and six touchdowns through the first four games, all numbers that are in the top five nationally.

“We’ve got to play with elite effort, great toughness, and physicality,” Swinney said. “Every play is the biggest play of the game.”

Clemson’s recent surge has come as the Tigers have leaned on their run game, defense, and special teams to help complement freshman quarterback Tait Reynolds.

The Tigers have run for 441 yards in their first two ACC games, while lead running back Gideon Davidson has put together the two best games of his young career in consecutive weeks.

“We’ve improved in a lot of areas,” Swinney said of his team’s progress since their loss at LSU. “But this is a different animal here now. We’ve grown in our identity a little bit and figured some things out. But I like what I’ve seen. I like how we’re running the ball.”

The Tigers (3-1, 2-0 ACC) and the Hurricanes (4-0, 2-0 ACC) are the only two teams in the conference that have won their first two ACC games. Saturday night will be Clemson’s 90th game all-time against a Top 10 opponent, and a win over the Hurricanes would be the Tigers’ fifth home win ever against a Top 5 team.

Saturday will also serve as Clemson’s Breast Cancer Awareness game. Swinney started his press conference by sharing his appreciation for his ‘All-In Foundation’ and thier partnership with The ROAR FM radio station for helping raise money for the cause each and every year.
